Ron Paul’s inclusive message attracting African American voters

Ron Paul’s inclusive message of peace, freedom, and prosperity may be attracting African American voters. According to this poll, Ron Paul leads his GOP opponents among black voters in general election contests.

In general election matches Paul loses among African American voters 60% to 33% against Hillary Clinton and loses 61% to 31% to Barack Obama.

In 2004 CNN exit polls show Bush receiving 11% of the African American vote in the general election against Kerry.

The averages of general election match up against either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama are for Paul, Romney, McCain or Giuliani are, Ron Paul - 32%, Mitt Romney - 23.5%, John McCain - 20%, Rudy Giuliani - 16%.

If the polls are accurate it could mean that Ron Paul’s message that ‘Freedom unites people’ is working. Paul’s uncompromising defense of the Bill of Rights is making him a Civil Rights Leader in his own right. ("Ron Paul inspiring new Civil Rights movements")

The poll, if accurate, could also mean that Ron Paul’s message of ‘repealing the police state’ is resonating with African American voters.

Paul does appear to be a uniting political force attracting supporters at his events from all walks of life.

USA Daily does not encourage its readers to allow polls to influence their voting decisions in any way. They are too often inaccurate. This statement is not a comment on the poll in question just on polling in general. (Discuss the election on www.usadaily.net)

Reagan did pull our troops home after the barrack bombing.

Are you saying Reagan cut and ran from Lebanon?

Did he give a reason for doing so?

Wouldn’t that be an interesting ticket if RP and Hunter joined forces. Both would balance one another greatly. IMO. If anyone else gets the nomination, it would be hard (supported, campagined, etc for both bush’s) for me to support any of the others.

I do not believe that Ron Paul, if Nominated, intends to share the GOP Ticket with Congressman Duncan Hunter. While Hunter has many good qualities (indeed, with Tancredo bowing out, I consider him my #2 choice), Ron Paul is a Small-Government Purist, and he is seeking like-minded Purists.

At this time, the only name whom Ron Paul has publicly mentioned (quite positively, at that) as a possible Running Mate is South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford -- who, during his tenure in Congress, was one of the only Republicans in history to actually acheive (admittedly, only once) a HIGHER National Taxpayer's Union Rating than Ron Paul himself.

While Mark Sanford is a bit more "Religious Right" than Ron Paul on Social Issues, Ron Paul is a "Religious Right" man himself (he just doesn't want to impose his beliefs on others) and I believe that Congressman Paul has enormous respect for Governor Sanford's impeccable record of opposing Government Spending (on one occasion, even better than his own!), in addition to an established record of working with Sanford on Small-Government issues (Paul stands alone; but when the vote went 433-2, odds are that the "2" were Paul and Sanford). I think that his fondness for Sanford as a possible Running Mate really illustrates the core principles of his campaign -- Socially-Libertarian yes; Anti-War yes; but Cutting back Government first and foremost!

While there is a "movement" amongst Ron Paul supporters to name former Superior Court judge Andrew P. Napolitano (FOX News author of Constitutional Chaos: What Happens When the Government Breaks its Own Laws) as our desired "Veep Choice", I think that the best we can hope for there is Attorney General. Ron Paul seems like the sort of guy who projects his punches far in advance, and if he nods his head towards Governor Sanford as his likely Veep Choice, I bet that's what we'll get.

Lord knows he won't listen to the GOP Establishment. No "Bush 1980" this time around!!

That said, I do hope that a President Ron Paul will consider Duncan Hunter for Secretary of Defense. Obviously, Hunter and Paul disagree on Foreign Policy issues, so in a Paul administration the SecDef won't be in charge of making Foreign Policy -- his job will simply be to make sure that the troops get the very best equipment, the very best war-fighting systems, and the very best benefits when they leave the Service... and on those questions, Hunter and Paul (as Veterans themselves) have always agreed, and I hope they'll work together (maybe with Hunter in the Cabinet?).

It's a dream, of course. But a man can dream, can't he?

Ed Rollins has spoken out about the opportunity Republicans have in the Black values voters, but is ignored by everyone except Rove. I saw that pompous nut job, George Wills ridicule Rollins about this back in 2000. But among political strategists Rollins and Rove are just about the best around right now.

Rollins is one heckuva smart cookie, always has been. Kudos.

Rove... personally, I think he plays the edge of the odds, and gets fortunate. Yes, he's gotten majorities, but just barely. He nearly fell off the "edge" in Florida 2000 (and frankly, Baker saved his arse by being a good lawyer who wouldn't tolerate Democrat sh*t), and he didn't improve that much in Ohio 2004.

Personally, I think our real problem is that God called Lee Atwater home to Heaven a bit too soon. Down 17% against Dukakis barely 3 months before the General Election, and Lee still pulled out a Bush victory? Good grief!!

Okay, so Atwater was the most ruthless, uncompromising SOB ever to play the political game -- and God saw fit to convert him to Christianity, absolve his sins, and bring him home to Heaven (courtesy of a Mark 1-A brain tumor).

But, y'know, he was only 42 years old -- we coulda used him down here just a bit longer (no offense meant, Our Father).

Will have to look into Stanford. You make a great case for him. I thought of DH as his SOD before. Would be a good fit as well.

Lord knows he won’t listen to the GOP Establishment. No “Bush 1980” this time around!! LOL

Reagan was told he HAD to take GHW on his ticket, though the two fought and disagreed similar to GW and McCain in 02. Least that is what I heard.

I found FR in 04. It was a great sanctuary to come to and find people who supported GWB. I, like many others, were afraid Kerry would get the nod. It was a good positive experience. W has let me down like many others who supported him in 00/04.

I am behind Paul 100%. I read the post and just lol at the guys that contiue to call RP names and consider themselves conservatives, republicans maybe, but not conservatives. Sorry, driving a pickup with a gunrack on the back window may make you a republican(in name only) but not necessarily a conservative. I am also humored by the tough typers, who advocate war and never spent even one day in the boy scouts. They sit at home while others do their fighting for them. But great, because they support the troops. Not by sending donations, care packages, etc, or the very least buying them drinks, lunch, dinner, etc when they run into them at airports, restaurants, etc. Yes, I know there are a lot of Freepers who get out and do the ground work, I do not consider them in the tough type troups (not to be confused with troop(s),). My tough type troups want us to bomb everyone while they sit and watch it on FOX, CNN and the likes drinking their cheap water down beer and cheering it on. But hey, they support the troops, support them in word only.

Let them type tough, they crack me up with their pictures and posts.

You guys along with many others who support RP do a wonderful job and I for one appreciate it. Forgive my rants.

Let the name calling begin/continue.

Doughty, last night O’Reilly had Kirsten Powers, Dem spin babe, on the Factor to ask her about the looney Left, such as those who disrupted a hearing with Secretary Rice and got right in her face waving bloody hands and screaming “Murderer!” before being pulled away by security. Kirsten denied that the leading Dems are in any way tied to such looneys. She said they even disrupted Bill Marr and Bill Clinton and were put down by those two. She said Cindy Sheehan is running against Pelosi as a Greenie, not a Dem.

After doing all she could to distance leading Dems from these people, she proceeded to say that the looney left O’Reilly was talking about contains a lot of Ron Paul supporters. (She gave that as an example of how they don’t equate with liberal Democrats, they’re so looney.)

I was already aware of Paul’s looney Left support, and many of us have pointed that out to the ridiculous Paulites on this site, but it was interesting to hear it from a liberal Dem.

Probably because most muslim terrorists are black. An anti-American terrorist appeaser is the perfect candidate for them.

So now your premise is that killing tens of thousands of terrorists isn’t a good thing.

How many actual foreign terrorist have been killed in Iraq? How many domestic terrorists (including those fighting us there to jockey for political position later)?

I've wondered if there are any hard numbers. Since we don't do body counts any more like we did in Vietnam, I never see much info on this.
