Sounds like doctrine to me!

It's funny how some words get "blacklisted" in contemporary Christianity.

"Doctrine" is one of them. It's a perfectly good bible word.

Another is "religion." It's not uncommon to hear, "Christianity isn't a religion, it's a relationship." Then they'll talk about hating organized "religion."

But religion is a good old new testament word from James: "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit widows and orphans in their affliction and to keep oneself unspotted from the world."

I think what they're meaning to say is something about organized phoniness. With the word "doctrine," I think they mean "legalistic bondage."

SLB, is that what you're trying to say?
