[T]he Church formally imposed celibacy on all priests in 1123 at the First Lateran Council - because married priests were involved in so many sex scandals. The Church's answer to the sex scandals of today should be the same: to emphasize celibacy more, not less.
Game, set, match.
Discussion of celibacy is a very good thing.
The only discussion of priestly celibacy that's good is the type which considers how best to defend the concept.

The only discussion of priestly celibacy that's good is the type which considers how best to defend the concept. Maybe. Discussion gets people thinking. I notice the Register didn't interview anybody who favored optional celibacy; there are married Episcopalian convert priests who do, you know.
I know two of them.
And it's funny to read about these married guys favoring celibacy.
They must have thought very little about their ministry in the Episcopal Church.
