And that leads to the question of how they date the Immaculate Conception (Out of charity I won't question on this thread how they arrived at that doctrine)?

If I remember correctly, the celebration of the feast on that specific date goes all the way back to the Fourth Century (at least.)

A lot of these "non-biblical" dates were derived by the Fathers from OT typology. I can't remember the reason for 8th December as date for the Immaculate Conception, but I have got the typology for Jesus' conception on 15th March somewhere. (If you are interested I could dig it out - as its you!)
