Again - put Jeremiah in your cartoon. He was a paranoid lunatic also according to your portrayal. If you think things are going to only get better - well - you have NOT been paying attention. The underpinnings ARE GONE. Young people have very little expectation of life improving today. Talk to them - find out. The majority of young people expect life to worsen in this country. They expect their own lot to worsen. Why? Not because we are not a prosperous nation. But because of what are clear trends. The trend is that the middle class is disappearing. The trend is that it takes two jobs or sometimes three to make ends meet for many people. The trend of hopelessness under these financial circumstances has clamped around many to the point of them giving up and getting out of the "earning" money rat race. The trend is that the harder people work, the less financial benefit they receive from their efforts. This means people WILL STOP WORKING. The trend is roads that are not paved. The trend is families breaking apart. The trend is an unstopped abortion holacaust. The trend is Christians and Jews and the Judeo-Christian worldview held up in scorn, ridicule, and - soon to come - outright violent persecution.
Now - given all that, what are we to do? We are to unite with our fellow Christians in unity and faith that God is not done yet and that our lives really are NOT about our comforts being perpetuated but God's Kingdom being advanced! Our lives are about being "conformed to the image of Jesus Christ". This has very little to do actually with the normal comforts of society with which most Americans enjoy.
Again, no matter how dark the night, the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ shines on and the darkness cannot put it out.
Yet, acting as if the darkness does not exist or is not worsening is as foolish as living in the darkness without shining the light of Jesus Christ into it!
Young people have very little expectation of life improving today. Talk to them - find out. We homeschooled our kids and they turned out fine, they both own their own business, if ya have any you should try it in your own back yard
