Where Have All the FR Protestants Gone?
drstevej

Posted on 04/08/2003 12:29 PM CDT by drstevej

OBSERVATIONS:

[1] There seems to be a significantly reduced number of Protestant Threads (KJV Only being the exception for sure) in the FR Religion Forum.

[2] There seems to be a reduced number of FR Protestant posts in the Religion Forum.

This thread is a place to discuss these observations.

------------

Now the transformation to a Catholic Religion Forum is almost complete. Must be a Marian miracle or an answer to Jim Robinson's prayer, "Can't we all just get along?" Now all the dissent is within the RC fold ... NO Mass vs. Tridentine Mass. Boredom has descended, the moderators are free to nap without fear of an **** awakening them.

Could someone arrange for a funeral mass? (a clown mass in this case might be in order).

"Come to my parish. While we are 'totally ignoring' what is happening we are on our knees. We do this as a sign of faith in the True Presence of Christ in the transubstantiated Body and Blood on the altar."

This "I've got mine, Jack" attitude is the epitome of selfishness. The fact that the Church is in crisis, that its seminarians are cruising the gay bars, that its Cookie Masses and Clown Masses and Teen Masses and Polka Masses and Gay Masses are turning off millions, that its Pontiff has appointed the biggest collection of klunkheads and apostates since the Renaissance, means nothing to you. You've got a nice parish. Fine, enjoy it--but don't presume it represents the vast majority of parishes out there. In fact, judging from your own lack of insight as to what's really going on in what used to be the Catholic sanctuary, I doubt things are even as great in your own backyard as you might suppose.

Meanwhile, this so-called claim that I offer no "proof" is specious. I have just posted a multi-paragraphed rundown on the Novus Ordo that you sloughed off like a Democrat asked to lower taxes. Asking for proof might buy you a little time--but when you turn around and ignore the evidence presented, it shows up your own inadequacies. Nor is it my task to remedy your own lack of proper catechesis. You have no idea about the history of the modernist movement before Vatican II and you are equally clueless as to how the Council had been shanghaied by progressivist forces out to reverse Trent and the Syllabus of Errors. No wonder you think I'm some kind of nutcase convinced of "sinister plots," though I've cited centrist sources such as Klaus Gamber, probably the single most important liturgical scholar of the twentieth century--which you have ignored.

The problem is, you accept the abnormal as if it were normal. You wouldn't know a modernist from a Buddhist monk. Read up a little and get a bit of background first--then come back with your argument. Right now it consists of merely attacking me personally.

A quick read of this thread is fascinating.

A post about vanishing Protestants is filled with Romanist responses.

Kinda says it all.

***Kinda says it all.***

Yep. Did you also notice that those who criticize us for many opinions are so divided over the mass?

Pope Piel will bring unity. BTW, what is "My way or the highway" in Latin?

Actually I do it the easy way by pasting the graphic into Front Page and then inserting the HTML code into the post.

A Graphic can be inserted with code like...

[img src="http://store2.yimg.com/I/iqkids1_1740_9169407"]

use "<" and ">" instead of "[" and "]" and you get...

Well, now I've heard everything. A schismatic lecturing me on not living in blissful ignorance in my own little parish.

I can tell when somebody is defeated in an argument when all he has left is the charge of "schismatic." Even if I were to grant that the SSPX were schismatic--which I most certainly do not--how does it follow that I am schismatic for attending their Masses--which even Rome says is permissible?

But, in fact, the SSPX is not in schism and never was in schism. Archbishop Lefebvre's motives were above reproach and free from all malice--he wanted to save traditional Catholicism from the wrecking ball of the Vatican, that was all. Time is proving him right in all respects--just as it proves to us daily how wrong this Pope has been.

As observed elsewhere, a cold wind is blowing through the religious ghetto.

So, I glanced through this thread about and addressed specifically to "Protestants," and what I observe is mainly a number of Roman Catholics discussing the specifics of their religion, which as a Biblical Christian interests me about as much as Islamics discussing their pilgrimages to Mecca, or Mormons discussing their genealogies.

Is that about right, or have I missed a lot of scintillating discussion of the theme you tried to introduce?

More Catholics? Fewer Protestants?

I've concluded that there may be a certain advantage in allowing FR's backroom to become a perceivably RC-only and Mormon-only religious forum.

YMMV.

Protestants believe in Free Discourse.

FR has become a place where many limitations are placed on Free Discourse.

Thus, many Protestants are staying away.

(If a Protestant posts anything that might be deemed offensive to a Catholic or a Mormon, they get banned. Even if the offending post is true.)
