Mat 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
What they fail to see is that the verse isn't comparing the state of the individual, it's comparing where they were. AS Jonah was IN the belly of the whale for 3 days and 3 nights, SO shall the son of man be in the earth 3 days and 3 nights.
They're argument is like saying that that because Jesus wasn't thrown in the water and swallowed by a whale like Jonah means he isn't the messiah. A bad argument in my opinion.
