OBSERVATIONS:
[1] There seems to be a significantly reduced number of Protestant Threads (KJV Only being the exception for sure) in the FR Religion Forum.
[2] There seems to be a reduced number of FR Protestant posts in the Religion Forum.
This thread is a place to discuss these observations.

The point is that it is actually a General interest thread not really religion..and should be there not on the religion forum I respectfully have to disagree with you. It is a religious thread. If it were under general interest there would be the usual "this needs to be in the religious forum" crowd complaining.
What a great party! I brought the bean dip!
I've read each and every post. It appears that some Freepers through their posts would have us accept four things as self-evident:
1) Discussing my religion in depth when you do not share in my religion is not an attempt to provide you complete information for analysis, it is proselytizing.
2) Exposing historically accurate points of shame in the evolution of your religion when I don't share your religion is not questioning your religion's sanctity, it is bashing.
3) Evidencing practices in your religion that are unBiblical when you've indicated your religion to be Bible based is not a call for reformation, it is assaulting.
4) It would be better to ban all religious speak than to allow those outside of your religious convictions speak.
To which I respond ... what a load of camel patties.

Grig started to tell me about your belief that there are people still alive today since Jesus' time. I am truly interested as I don't quite understand the basis for this. I would also like to know just who these people are? Where they live, etc.
Thanks in advance.

I would submit that the Founders would have thought religious expression more important to protect than political expression.BUMP.
If they can't take the heat, get off the pulpit.

Jim, you probably have defined what consist of bashing but I have not read it as of yet. I hope speaking the truth in love in order to help another out of a web of lies is not considered bashing. Isn't this what free speech is all about? Would you please define "bashing" for me as I would appreciate knowing. Thank you, Bellflower

FWIW, I have been one of the non-Catholics DEFENDING the Pope.
You must have me confused with someone else.

The only time people like you are "attacked" is when you instigate it. I will not stand by and see my religion slandered and lied about.
You have a limited right of free speech, but when you lie and slander, be prepared for return fire.

haven't you noticed how sick the harbor looks today? Rather "ill" no ?
To: Jim Robinson
Yes sir, that is correct. In fact, there are people here who contribute NOTHING to this forum except the bashing of their favorite religious targets.
If they offend the believers whom they denigrate, and if those believers choose to take exception, then what do they expect?

Saying that "Southern Baptists and Assembly of God members whom I have known tend to be rather shallow" is hardly bashing of religion.
"Bashing of religion" would be to "prove" that your faith is "evil" using wads of anti-whatever garbage based on lies and deceit.
That you can't figure out that difference says a great deal about you.

OH, and there are forums that exist IN SPADES elsewhere on the 'net, specifically geared toward "bashing" Mormonism. There you can go and "bash" to your heart's content, supported and abetted by a warm coterie of like-minded individuals.
You can even go to alt.religion.mormon, and engage in spirited "bashing" of Mormons, many of whom will respond to you with equal fervor. That ought to keep you happy for some time to come.
FR is not such a forum. That's something else that you and your ilk have never seemed to understand.

hold your breath - and any info you get will be ambiguous
To: ksen
You post no "verifiable facts." You post your opinion.
And even at that, since this is an "opinion forum," you'd think that would be "okay," but it isn't. Because the forum was never intended to be a religious debate.

You people consistently begin your "rebuttal" of "Mormonism" by stating that we "don't worship the 'real' Christ."
The comment to which you refer was, I believe, made by me, to the effect that a god whose creatures are brought into existence without their consent, and are then hated by him, save a few only whom he "saves" according to his arbitrary pleasure, is not a god in whom I believe, nor who is owed my adoration.
Sorry if you choose to be offended by that. It is my opinion, just as it is your opinion that I do not believe in "the real Christ."
But remember: You are the one who made an issue of it first. I have just responded with my own opinions.

FR was established as a politics forum, not a religious debate forum.
If FR had a monopoly on discussion websites, you might have a legitimate complaint, but the fact is there are uncounted forums available to you where it is not only permitted, but EXPECTED, that you can go and bash those religions that offend you.
I would invite you to go to Usenet, to alt.religion.mormon, if you want to engage in debate with "Mormons" who themselves love to debate. You can post all your slander, you can make all your brilliant (though decidedly unoriginal) statements of argument, etc.
And you can do that without incurring the wrath of the moderators of Free Republic.
To me, it is "win-win," and I don't understand why you hesitate to avail yourself of it.
