FR was established as a politics forum, not a religious debate forum.
If FR had a monopoly on discussion websites, you might have a legitimate complaint, but the fact is there are uncounted forums available to you where it is not only permitted, but EXPECTED, that you can go and bash those religions that offend you.
I would invite you to go to Usenet, to alt.religion.mormon, if you want to engage in debate with "Mormons" who themselves love to debate. You can post all your slander, you can make all your brilliant (though decidedly unoriginal) statements of argument, etc.
And you can do that without incurring the wrath of the moderators of Free Republic.
To me, it is "win-win," and I don't understand why you hesitate to avail yourself of it.

FR was established as a politics forum, not a religious debate forum. That may have been true at the beginning, but FR has evolved to include Religious debate through the creation of a Religion forum.

FR was established as a politics forum, not a religious debate forum. And yet, here we sit in the "Religion Forum."
