That was a well written article that you posted. I think that the Paradise Jesus referred to was not the 3rd heaven, which Paul saw, and where the Father's throne is, but the place Jesus referred to as Abraham's bossom in his telling of the rich man and Lazurus. When Jesus had been raised from the dead, he said that he had not yet ascended to his Father. He had told the thief, "Today you will be with me in Paradise." If he had not yet ascended to his Father, then this place called Paradise must not have been Heaven itself, but may have been the holding area where the souls of people of faith were kept until the payment of redemption by the blood of Christ. Upon His resurrection, this Paradise was emptied of the souls that had been there and they were allowed to enter Heaven itself. That is possibly why some of the departed souls appeared to people in Jerusalem when Christ arose. They too had been freed from the penalty of their sins through Christ.

I wish I had read this last night. Our priest wanted our Confirmation class to do a "live" "Stations of the Cross". The script he gave us was one of those newfangled idiocies, with lines such as: "Veronica's act was neither masculine or feminine" or "after 47 episodes of "Cops" 2 " Terminator movies" or "I complained about taking the garbage out". I told him I was going to do some editing and he said okay so I re-wrote it and made it much more biblical and reverent.
