Me too. I always think of the words of Jesus: "do what they say and not what they do." Any pope is of course human and some of them have done really lousy or just plain stupid stuff, just like us.

But they sure have been faithful and consistent in the faith and morals teaching department!

The way I feel ---I'm still an American in spite of Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. I don't know if my faith would have survived those Borgia popes but it definitely will survive this Pope's kissing the Koran. My faith in the US survived Clintons' kissing the Arafats.

The Pope kissed the Koran. Our new version Pharisee immediately salivates. He is ready to pounce and add such an indictable emblem to his files. And what does it prove? That the Pope is a secret Muslim maybe? That the Pope doesn’t believe in Jesus Christ maybe? That the Pope is a relativist, perhaps? A syncretist for sure? That all religions are one in the Pope’s mind? The Pope also kisses the ground upon landing in various countries on pastoral visits. A secret pantheist?

The Muslims worship a false god. The pope honored that god..

Exd 20:2   I [am] the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Exd 20:3   Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

  Exd 20:4   Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth:

  Exd 20:5   Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me;

Jer 25:6 And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.

  Psa 44:20   If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;

  Psa 44:21   Shall not God search this out?

2Cr 6:14Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

The koran that was kissed is an addition to the word of God

Rev 22:18   For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

2Cr 6:14Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

I just got home from Mass but I still don't believe the Pope should be kissing the Koran. Why isn't he evangelizing the Muslims, trying to save their souls? Wouldn't that be a better way of showing respect for them? If he tried to show a better way?

You are correct Fritz..if we really love the Muslims we do not honor their false religion or pay it tribute..we bring them Christ.

We all worship the Creator. There is only One Creator.

We believe that Islam is a departure from what is God's will for mankind, although they have access to some truth [as do all religions]; the fullness of truth resides in Christianity.

Please don't ping me to anymore Stephan Hand articles. I'm Catholic, not neoCatholic.

"The Muslims and their Koran deny the Most Holy Trinity, the divinity of Jesus Christ and His Crucifixion." Vatican II, 1992 Catechism of the Catholic Church: 841.

Pope John Paul II, May 14th 1999: “The Church's relationship with the Muslims. 'The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims"; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day.'[LG 16; cf. NA 3.]”-- My emphasis.

Implore the Pope that he may repent of the heresy of pluralism. Islam is the wrath of God on mankind through Satan. Satan used truth to tempt Christ:

And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

If you show respect for something you do not believe, it is a false respect and is more insulting that a forthright denunciation. Anything less than the whole truth is evil.

In the midst of "BAD NEWS" here is some good news dont worry about the lies,Here is the TRUTH of the MATTER.

Read this word from God:

"Flee from the midst of Babylon, and every one save his life! Do not be cut off in her iniquity, for this is the time of the Lord's
vengeance; He shall recompense her. Babylon was a golden cup in the Lord's hand, that made all the earth drunk. The nations drank
her wine; therefore the nations are deranged. Babylon has suddenly fallen and been destroyed, wail for her! Take balm for her pain;
perhaps she may be healed; we would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed. Forsake her and let us go everyone to his own
country; for her judgment reaches to heaven and is lifted up to the skies. Make the arrows bright! Gather the shields! The Lord has
raised up the spirit of the kings. For His plan is against Babylon to destroy it because it is the vengeance of the Lord, the
vengeance for His temple....... O you who dwell by many waters, abundant in treasures, your end has come."

Sorry, I disagree. I do not worship Allah, Mohammed, cows or monkeys. Your second sentence, however, is right on: it's the first statement in the Apostles' Creed.

Hand was banned from FR for his baiting and flaming. He misrepresents the truth too often for my tastes, and defends the Pope rather than the Faith. There is no denying this Pope's ecumenical spirit. There is no denying the fact that the Curia no longer sees a need to reconcile schismatics and heretics to Rome. VATICAN CITY, March 29 -- Pope John Paul II said today he hoped that the human tragedy of the war in Iraq would not set Christians and Muslims against each other and spark "a religious catastrophe."

"War must never be allowed to divide world religions," he told visiting Roman Catholic bishops from Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim country. The pope said good inter-religious relations were important "at this moment of heightened tension in the entire world community."

Of course you are correct. I should have said "the Truth lies in Christianity" - and I almost did except I would have been compelled to add on your sentence, which would have sparked even more bad feelings.

That's why I prefer to remember this Pope for the way he used to be ---he was a staunch anti-Communist, he didn't say to appease them.

I've seen similar statements many times, but I've never seen any documentation. What makes you think that JPII is a "staunch anti-communist"? We know that he is currently best pals with Gorbachev, former communist leader and now the leader of the one-world new religions initiative. Maybe he was anti-communist before the fall of the Berlin wall. But I have never stumbled across any written material which supports that contention.
