That's why I prefer to remember this Pope for the way he used to be ---he was a staunch anti-Communist, he didn't say to appease them.

I've seen similar statements many times, but I've never seen any documentation. What makes you think that JPII is a "staunch anti-communist"? We know that he is currently best pals with Gorbachev, former communist leader and now the leader of the one-world new religions initiative. Maybe he was anti-communist before the fall of the Berlin wall. But I have never stumbled across any written material which supports that contention.

I've read that he was ---I think we only saw this Pope for what he was for only a few years and then he was shot down. His injuries were very serious ---life-threatening, he's had several operations since. I think his life has been filled with pain and most likely pain killers. Plus there is the age factor ---Reagan himself is not what he used to be. It's possible there are others in the Vatican who are taking advantage of the Pope's medical conditions.
