João Mota Neto has attended the traditional Latin Mass all his life.
His spirit was formed and his heart captivated by the Mass of St. Pius V. When he determined to give his heart to God, he entered the Seminário da Imaculada Conceição - Seminary of the Immaculate Conception. He was fifteen years old.
Once at the seminary, João quickly got used to the routine: the Angelus at 6AM, the Holy Mass at 6:30, the little hours of Prime, Sext and Terce (all in Latin) interspersed with studies throughout the day. At 5:30 the seminarians meet to practice singing the ethereal and profoundly beautiful Gregorian Chants that they sing at Mass. The priests and seminarians ask for God's blessing both before and after meals.
In the hallway outside the seminary chapel there hangs a row of birettas. When João, now seventeen, enters the major seminary next year, he'll wear his cassock all the time, as do all the major seminarians - even when it's their turn to wash dishes. (They roll up their sleeves, but the cassock stays on.)
João Mota Neto has no opinion about the New Mass. He's never been to it even once. For as long as anyone can remember, his family has faithfully assisted at the Tridentine Latin Mass. He attended schools where he was taught the fullness of the traditional Catholic Faith, and where he saw it lived out. The windows of João's home were not wide open to worldly influences - instead, such influences were combated with the light of Catholic truth.

Who knows if "Joao" will ever be ordained. He's still a kid.
