More ad hominem attacks. Why not argue the issues instead of demonizing people you disagree with? Ferrara's a conciliere for schismatics? He's somehow unsavory in court? He lived it up at Woodstock in his youth? Give me a break. Discuss what he has written instead of hurling abuse. Why smear all traditionalists because of one? Are all Novus Ordonians pedophiles because some of their priests are? It's a dumb way to argue.

I am myself a traditionalist. I will put my normalcy up against characters who have attacked me personally and frequently on this site merely because they disagree with me on issues. I would never in my wildest dreams call these people a "son of Satan" or "schismatic" or "heretic" instead of arguing a point as they have done. This is not a fair way to think and operate. It is not right to undermine someone's personal reputation in order to express opposition to a viewpoint.

You must be getting me mixed up in another post. At no time did I refer to anyone as a heretic or a schismatic -- in fact, I specifically pointed out that I often attend the same Latin Mass as Ferrara!

Like I said -- he's got a reputation for being blunt. He managed to get himself thrown out of Catholics United for the Faith (and his local CUF chapter disbanded) some years ago. But I would have been on his side on that one -- he violated one of CUF's basic codes of conduct by publicly criticizing a bishop at a press conference in New Jersey.

The court case I mentioned was not just a chance encounter between Ferrara and a fellow parishioner -- it was a court case that resulted from a dispute within that particular Latin Mass community.

I thought the persepctive from the same church as the author would be interesting. What I must point out, however, is that this group had a reputation that pre-dates my first exposure to them -- a friend of mine who is a priest in the Fraternal Society of Saint Peter several thousand miles away once told me that this particular apostolate has quite a few pains in the @ss (again, I have no idea which side Ferrara would be on).

Re your #13

"With those who follow a different way it is useless to take counsel" - Confucius - Analects XV,39 (as rendered by C. S. Lewis in "The Abolition Of Man")

The point is proven on this thread (And many others)!
