Do babies go to Heaven?

Posted on 12/29/2002 9:23:52 PM PST by PFKEY

Hope no one minds the vanity too much.

I was thinking last night about this idea and was trying to make it jive somewhat with the notion of predeterminationalism if that is the correct word.

Also was curious regarding what the various Christian denominations taught on this subject.

Most of mankind is going to hell..Christ died for many not all or even most. Those that are His will hear the gospel and believe .God had no problem drowing the egyptian army..

I agree with what you write.

Whether God pre-planned their deaths, or whether God simply foreknew their deaths, I just also believe that God doesn't delight in the death of the wicked. Rather, I think it sorrows Him.

I think we can all feel sorrow when a murder is put in the chair..but he is getting exactly what he deserves...and Pastor all man kind deserves "the chair" ..so the God that is love feels sad for His creation hating him but He rejoices in His Justice..

OK with me.

I imagine a parent, who knows his child murdered, being in the strange position of both accepting the death penalty and loving the child and sorrowing over the death of the child.

All I ask is that the bible be treated fairly.

Two came forward: one for baptism and the other for membership. The first was led to Christ through His own mysterious ways and announced his decision at our house over a game of pool with the pastor. Pretty cool, huh?

It's been a blessed day.

I have a young adult program I'm running in about 40 minutes and we have a 3 church get-together at 7 tonight. Pray for all.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them.
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but bacame vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
And changed the glory of the incorruptible God unto an image made like to corruptable man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is belssed for ever, A-men.
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and recieving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Without understanding, covenant- breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Who knowing the judgement of God, that they which comit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Romans 1:18-32 KJV, emphasis by me

They know, they always knew, and so do/did so many in our nation, as this passage describes them 2000 years before the fact. The problem with humanity is not that we don't know God, the problem is that we reject the knowlege of God.

Why "Dark Lord?"

You quote the bible. I have no problem with the bible.

It surprises you that a Calvinist would quote scripture? Or does the title "Dark Lord surprise you?

I should have numbered them comment #1 and comment #2. They aren't connected.

1. I don't understand why someone would use "dark Lord."

2. The post to which I responded quoted considerable scripture. I have no problem with scripture.

"Dark Lord" is simply a play on the imagery of Calvinists as dark, stern, unfriendly individuals. This image comes about because of the pictures of John Calvin, Theodore Beza, Jonathan Edwards, Cotton Mather, and other Calvinist, who were percieved to be "dark lords", mysterious in their ways. Other traditions tended to be somewhat "lighter" in the way they presented themselves, but i am simply making fun of a styeotype.

I don't like it. But it's a free world.

I don't think it sends the message you hoped for.

It amuses me, and that was all i intended to do.

Let those who actually know me judge me on the basis of my conduct, in as far as that is all that man has to judge, the intentions of the heart being seen only by God.

Let those at this site judge me by my statements, not what i call myself

That's what Tammy Fay Baker used to say about her makeup.

But I still thought she looked like a hooker. I always figured she should take seriously the words, "avoid the appearance of evil."

"That's what Tammy Fay Baker used to say about her makeup."

In point of fact, she didn't say that, about her makeup; she said that about her expensive shopping outings with money that came from people, many who to this day support her, so that's their problem (if they consider it to be a problem).

"But I still thought she looked like a hooker."

i always thought she looked like a middle aged woman who was fashion challenged, not unlike many women in many churches, some or even most of whom were objects of God's grace, yet still subjects of sombody elses' fashion opinions, which may or may not be valid.

"I always figured she should take seriously the words, 'avoid the appearance of evil.'"

Maybe if she and Jim Bakker had not come out of a "Holiness" tradition where external legalism took the place of the sanctifying Grace of God, and the arbitrary ordinances of man the restraint of the Holy Spirit, they would have had a ministry that would be to this day blessed. We will never know, (though Jim Bakker's recent, low profile work seems to indicate that this is the case). At any rate, i am not so foolish to equate a person's screen name with the content of that person's heart (being, even in the regenerate, full of evil and malice), nor with what God is doing in/with/through that person by virtue of His grace, and i really don't see the need to defend myself from the external charges, or opinions of anyone else in this forum.

If you have a problem with this matter, you should take it before God, as i don't do social work.

Presumably, this doctrine of limbo was developed because it seems so unjust that they should be in hell.

It was never accepted doctrine, just theological theory.
