Montreal -- A Roman Catholic bishop has asked to be discharged from his duties to be with the woman he loves.
"I don't feel I'm living in sin," said Bishop Raymond Dumais, Bishop Emeritus of Gaspé, Que., who lives with his partner in Bic, Que., about 540 kilometres northeast of Montreal.
The bishop, 52, made his remarks this week on Radio-Canada, the CBC's French-language counterpart. CP

I guess you have to resign if it's a woman but it's OK if it's little boys.

"I don't feel I'm living in sin," Bishop Raymond Dumais is a graduate of the Costanza Seminary whose motto is "It's not a lie if you believe it."

An interesting doctrine, "it's not sin if I feel it's not sin."

The truth hurts. The Catholic clergy lost all credibility when they refused to get rid of the priests who abused children. They just passed them from diocese to diocese. Sorry that bothers you. If yoy defend those actions and you're Catholic you're part of the problem.

I'm sure there are many other priests who would love to be bishop. In today's environment, there are fewer than two years ago. Catholic dioceses today are full of land-mines.
At least this bishop has the decency to resign. There are priests who "play around" on the side who simply can't bring themselves to acknowledge that they are using another human being.

What's the matter. The truth about the Catholic clergy bother you?Speaking for myself, what bothers me is the tendency of short-sighted bigots to generalized about the clergy based on incidents that Catholics find appalling to begin with but that reflect on the behavior of a minority of clerics.

The TRUTH is they are in the Apostolic Succession. Like Judas, some betray Our Lord, others serve him. "Non Serviam" is the enemy of "Veritas". Was THAT the TRUTH ("veritas") you were talking about?

Too many did. So do many school districts. Does that mean we ought to condemn all public school teachers?

The Pope himself finally had to speak out about the problem. The last two years the Catholic clergy has been trying to find a way to deal with the issue. If the Pope has it at the top of his agenda it's not generalizing to say it's a problem. Grow up. Recognize it's a problem and try to help with the solution.
