"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us"
If Ephesians 3:20 told us that God was to do all that we ask or think, that would be . . . well . . . wonderful! If Ephesians 3:20 told us that God was able to do above all that we ask or think, that would be tremendous! If Ephesians 3:20 told us that God was able to abundantly above all that we ask or think, that would be fabulous! But Ephesians 3:20 tells us that God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think; that is astounding (at least in my meek mind). If these are words which the Holy Spirit teaches, and words which were given by inspiration of God, that God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. We have seen that His power is great, that He is great in might and strong in power, there is nothing too hard for Him, that His weakness is stronger than mans strength, and that He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. Gods power is truly enormous.
The eighth chapter of Romans declares the rights, privileges and abilities of the sons of God in a fashion that perhaps no other chapter does in the entire Bible. It is important to note that the eighth chapter of Romans contains more occurrences of the Greek word pneuma (translated most often into our English Bibles as spirit) than in any other chapter of the Bible, even more frequently than in I Corinthians 12-14, the great section so well known for dealing with spiritual matters.
Let us consider only a few of the astounding declarations in this chapter.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. . ."
Here we learn of the first time in the Bible that it is Christ in you. Its not just Moses in me, or Joshua in me, or John the Baptist in me. But Gods Word says that it is Christ in me (as in II Corinthians 13:5, Galatians 2:20, Colossians 1:27, and Colossians 3:11). With Christ in me, I can walk with God and manifest love and power. Really, with Christ in us, the possibilities in our walk with and for God are vast.
"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the Sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."
For the first time in Gods Word, we learn that Christians are children of God, heirs of God, joint-heirs with Christ. When we manifest (bring outward evidence) the spirit, we bear witness to our own hearts and souls that we are children of God, heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ.
The eighth chapter of Romans declares many of the astonishing rights, privileges and abilities of the sons of God. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. Christians have Christ in them. Christians are sons of God, children of God, heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ. What rights, privileges and abilities.
God bless your hearts!
