Regarding the other posts above, about the disappearance of this and many other Marian feasts, I agree. It is one of the things that I find most distressing in the new liturgical environment. The feast days of the saints have just up and vanished, and those of the Blessed Mother are well on their way to being eliminated, as well.

My mother Noreen came from a tradition in the west of Ireland where every feast of Our Lady had a special meal and a special dessert. Simple fare, but wonderful. This evening those of us who can will get together and will have a huge birthday party for the Blessed Mother with our mother as the "Guest of Honor".
