Dont lose your Saltiness.
By Darren Morrison
There are certain food dishes that taste bland without salt. We need salt in order to survive. Before there was refrigeration they used salt to protect and preserve meats and other things. But what happens when salt losses its saltiness. It becomes useless and it becomes ineffective. Mark 9:50. Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another. So what is our Savior saying here? He says salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness what good is it.
How is our speech? Do we teach? How do we talk to our other brothers? Do we tell dirty jokes at work? Do we cuss out other drivers? Colossians 4:6. Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. I remember a bumper sticker that said, Honk if you love Jesus so I honked and the person in the car gave me the finger. I guess he forgot he had the bumper sticker. But what really happened is this person had lost his saltiness.
So what is the value of salt that has no saltiness? Matthew 5: 13. Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. If we as Christian lose our saltiness then we are useless Christians. The Bible says we are good for nothing. What is in your heart? If it is not good throw it out. We need to be salt because the world needs salt. September evil made it evident that the world needs salt. We must be salt to a world that has lost its saltness; to give hope to the hopeless, to show the way for the lost.
We must have the flavor of Christ. People must know we are Christian because of the way we treat one another. We must preach the word when it is needed and be ready when it is needed. We never know when a lost soul is before us and ready to repent, therefore we must always be ready. When we are at work when we are the store or downtown having coffee. Are we going to be effective as a Christians? We must first understand what effective Christians do. Mark 16:15. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. That is what Christians do. If we are not preaching the Gospel then perhaps we have no salt.
Luke 14:34. Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? So where do we get the savour. Pray that is how we keep in contact with GOD. Read the Bible every day that is how we understand GOD. Attend a local New Testament church, May I suggest an unaffiliated independent Baptist church. I have been out there I had to church hop for a few years so I know what a lot of churches preach. I know that my church preaches the Gospel right out the Bible. Find a church that is Bible taught so that their doctrine is the Bible. Be at your church every time the door is open and be involved, dont just sit there. Be salt in you church. Ask your pastor what you can do and then do it.
Mark 9:50. Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another. It says to have peace with one another. On thing Satan would love to do is destroy your church. That is why he will create strife between you and your brothers and sisters. So we must ask what we can do for them. Be salt to your brothers and sisters.
So dont lose your saltiness. Jesus said we are the salt of the earth. We Christians are what gives the Earth its flavor and we preserve it like salt did to meat. We are to keep it from rotting away. But look at the world; terrorism, wars, all sorts of evil everywhere. So we need now more than ever to be salt.
