[WARNING: I think this is a fabrication] Prophecy attributed to Mother Teresa?

Posted on 08/02/2002 7:18:24 AM PDT by Polycarp

While attending a retreat this weekend, I learned of a prophetic vision or dream experienced by Mother Theresa just hours before she died in September 1997. The details we were given, (by an internationally renowned priest, and highly responsible and reliable source), are rather sketchy, but worth relating. Mother Theresa apparently awoke at about 8:00 pm on the evening she died. (She was to die at approximately 9:30 pm). She was perfectly lucid and in full possession of her faculties. She summoned the members of her community to gather round, and she related her dream, which was rooted in the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

The First Horseman represented the plague that is to overtake the world and kill millions. It would strike five years after her death, in the month of August. The second Horseman represented the war, to take place in 2003. Though of short duration, it would once again claim millions of victims. America would wage total war in the Middle East, (the plans for this are well advanced, it's all about oil, but more on that some other time), Russia would ultimately join with America, while China would arm and side with the Muslims. It would become a nuclear exchange.

The third Horseman wasn't mentioned, but the fourth was a brilliant shining light. Mother Theresa apparently revealed that it represented God, and admonished her sisters to cling to Him with unflinching trust and not despair throughout whatever was to come. One of the things that arouses doubts about the authenticity of private revelation is precise dates. Heaven invests a purposeful ambiguity here; we are not given a schedule according to which we can amend our lives in our own good time, but are instead prudently advised to act as though things will happen sooner rather than later. But what makes this case so different is that all of this information has been included in the documentation that is being sent to Rome in support of Mother Theresa's cause for beatification.

This came from a friend on a Catholic web site I used to help with. I do not believe it is a legitimate prophecy, as I have never seen it even mentioned before in any "credible" source. I am just putting this out to see if anyone here has ever heard of such a prophecy attributed to Mother Teresa. I think this is a fabrication.

At one time, about 10 years ago, I followed much of the Marian "apparitions" and Catholic prophecy quite closely. However, I found this robbed me of my peace, and there was absolutely no valid objective criteria upon which to discern the validity of various claims.

I am just curious whether others here have seen this floating around the internet, or have heard of this alleged prophecy before?

For clarification: I did not write this, I just copied and pasted it from another web site run by a friend (the youngest sister of Catholic apologist Pat Madrid.)

Just FYI and for your input...pinging

LOL! I'm just trying to help a friend diffuse concern over this "prophecy." I hope to prove there is no credible basis on which to claim this "prophecy" even exists, but I did not want to bias my fellow Catholic Freepers here in their evaluation, so that my findings here would be seen as credible by those disquieted by this "prophecy."

Haven't heard this one, but the first would commence this month, right? If it were true. I've heard some humdingers in the last few years, mostly attributied to the Mary sighings.

What are you questioning, the prophecy or the identity of the prophet?

"[W]hen the alleged experience [of private revelation] has been apprehended through the use of spiritual faculties which we either do not possess or do not use, our confidence in the 'something there' necessarily evaporates. Which is, I suppose, why the Church tells us that a private revelation may be such as to demand credence from the soul which experiences it, but can never, of itself, demand credence from other people." Truly said. I used to do the same thing and I used to buy the books of prophecies, visions etc. The friends I know who attended to this closer than did I, were totally freaked about Y2K and they were absoultely convinced that everything would collapse. We appeared to deal with it ok. Now, those same friends are anticipating other future tragedies with similar certitude they are inescapable

That this would appear, suddenly, to coincide with the first major occurrence of this "revelation" makes it highly suspect.

Anybody can say anything and attribute it to anybody else. Anyway, the "it's all about oil" sounds fishy to me as well.

No, No, No. The Cubs and Red Sox will meet in a World Series.

"...but the first would commence this month, right?"

I just read this week about Saddam having an ebola laboratory in some underground bunker.

Polycarp, I have a dear friend in my parish who knew Mother Teresa, scrubbed toliets with her up in Harleem while she tried to discern whether she belonged in her order, and I will ask her if she has heard anything about this.

Do you think this may have just been released now to coincide with the news that the US and UK governments are stocking up on smallpox vaccine?

Probably with a note saying there is no proof she ever said this. Had she said it I would be more than a little shocked to have not heard it before now. We hear every public word Sister Lucia speaks in short order, usually before she says it. I can't imagine why it would take five years for a real prophecy from Mother Theresa to spread.

We are praying he will convert, and go mute, but not in that order. ;-)
