It's a shame that even in the West most Orthodox - myself included - are not exposed more to pre-Schism Western saints

St John Maximovitch of Shanghai and San Francisco who spent some time in France, was very interested in such. He passed that down to Father Seraphim Rose, of blessed memory, and there are a few collections for the Orthodox yet available.

I have an icon of St. John, and first became aware of Orthodoxy through a book about Fr. Seraphim. My middle son, Dmitri Seraphim, is named in part in his honor. I wish there were more of their caliber in our Church in the West. Christ Bless.
