It's their place of worship, it's their business how they approach things.

The Temple. not the churches. Think of a Temple like a country club.

Hey, if you want to go inside the temple after it is
dedicated that's not a problem at all.
First, there are 6 lessons you must take with the
missionaries and attend an Sunday service, after that ask
to be baptized and spend one year as a faithfull active member
(that would include studying the Bible and Book of Mormon, no coffee, tea, smoking, illeagal drugs, sex outside of
marriage, attending meeting, paying tithing, fasting, serving in
callings etc. etc.) After that it shouldn't be too hard to get
inside.
Now if all that seems too much trouble to you, that is YOUR choice,
but we stand ever ready to help you if you change your mind.

A Mormon Temple is not like a Christian Church. Their regular meetings are held in other places, where all are invited. Mormon Temples are generally used for baptisms, proxy baptisms and weddings. I was surprised to read that the Nauvoo temple was open to the general public, as other temples are not.
Richard Ostling wrote a very interesting book called "Mormon America".

A temple is not a church. I know that's difficult to grasp for those who are not members of our faith, but suffice it to say they're used for vastly different purposes.
In fact, you may find this odd, but temples are CLOSED on Sunday, so that we "sinners" can go to church.

And if Christian churches closed their doors to sinners....... Shocking, isn't it? Similarly, imagine if only certain priests could enter the inner part of the temples in ancient times. Oh, wait,...
