A Navy officer from Denmark, Ia., was barred from a Mormon temple in Nauvoo, Ill., on Monday because of his behavior during a previous visit.
Rocky Hulse first toured the new temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 21. At the end of the tour, he said, he asked a temple official where the cross was located in the church.

I believe that the terms both essentially mean "savior."
Sensible enough. Of course, Jesus seems to have considered himself a Jew!

And the "anti-" rhetoric never changes, even though it is spewed by the usual suspects who have been answered and informed otherwise on numerous occasions......
They killed Him for it ... also as prophesied, so He could purchase them by bearing their sins and so He could be resurrected the third day so all will be resurrected.
He will come to them again and they will see the prints in His hands and feet and then know exactly who He was and is, and what their fathers did ... they will then accept Him for who He is.

Can a long-time Catholic enter the inner sanctum of the SLC Temple? Hey, she's a Christian with a long record of church attendance. As an evangelical, I was baptized after accepting Christ as my Savior. Does that mean I wouldn't have to be re-baptized if I converted to Mormonism? Also, why do any Mormons prosyletize Christians? If we're all Christians anyway, why waste so much time on Baptists, Lutherans, etc.?
I don't consider the LDS Church Christian because it holds itself as being unique to all other Christian churches. This goes both ways, so you needn't feel oppressed. I disagree that God changes ("As we are, He was. As He is, we will become") and believe that this human desire to "be like God" is the same temptation the Serpent offered Eve. I don't believe works get you any closer to heaven since Christ did all the work for us on the cross. I don't believe in spirit babies, the spiritual difference between racial groups, a dominant and "civilized" white race in North America in precolumbian times, the need for special garments, that Jesus is Lucifer's brother, or many other very important Mormon doctrines. But even though I strongly disagree with many Mormon doctrines, I respect your right to believe them. And you can respect my religious beliefs as well.
Again, this "persecution" goes both ways. If you viewed traditional Christianity as sufficient, you wouldn't be trying to "convert" us "gentiles" at all.
I hope it stays on that level and that we will all strive to keep it there. If not, we are free to simply cease and desist which is best in such cricumstances IMHO.
Others are free to take it as they will, as are we all.

That's how I picture it and hope you will do the same.
See my post 80.
Best regards and I have probably said more than enough on this thread at this point.
God bless.
Yes, from what I learned about the Morman church, it is different, but I daresay, they would find the goings on at a rousing holiness church a little strange also. That is not a put-down. I find the goings on at my on Baptist Churches a little strange sometimes also.
To each his own. Christ knows His own and thank goodness, that judgement is in His hands.
Regardless, the man had an axe to grind and he behaved badly. I would say that no matter what religion was involved.
The Vatican's rather terse commentary on the subject.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church's take on the matter. They're not exactly a conservative group; they're in full communion with the Episcopalians.
The Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod's position.
The United Methodist Church weighs in.
And, finally, the Southern Baptists.
I looked on the Presbyterian site, but all they do is reprint the Vatican's position.
I can't find anything on line on the Episcopalian site, but our church carries a pamphlet about Mormons that basically says, "They're not Christians." I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to take my word on the matter.
If you can find a Christian denomination that accepts Mormons as Christians, I'd like to know.
Not.
I suspect that the Mormon Church has reasonably exact figures. However, I also suspect that these figures have not bee widely publicized because they do not do a great job of supporting their portrayal of themselves as the completely innocent victims of persecution.
The early Mormons were very different from those of today, just as some of the Anabaptists of the Reformation were pretty radical when compared to today's Southern Baptists. Early Quakers were pretty wild. And, of course, few Catholics of today will seriously defend the actions of some of their co-religionists of the past.
Few professed Christian groups have a complete absence of skeletons in their demnomational closets.
But when it comes to theology, I find the rather unanimous, and well explained, opinions that I've posted persuasive.
In fact, you may find this odd, but temples are CLOSED on Sunday, so that we "sinners" can go to church.
