Yesterday's thread on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Summer Plenary Session. turned up a lot of Catholic FReepers suggesting that it's time for the faithful laity to get more visible and active in pressing for a restoration of right order in the Church. To that end, I've decided to develop and maintain a list of Catholic FReepers, sorted by state, as a resource for future activism. Some of us will wish to collaborate on future projects; others may simply find the list handy for purposes of fellowship. If you want to be on this list, please post your state (or overseas country) on this thread. I'll collate whatever comes in, and Askel5 will post the results on the ConSpiratio web site.
In posting your FR handle and location, you're not volunteering for anything except the chance of being contacted in the future. Whatever activism you then undertake is entirely up to you. For the record, I have no specific plan for this list, nor am I aware of anyone else's. It seems like something that needs to be done, however, and I'll wager the very existence of a good list will generate fruitful ideas.
If you prefer not to post your location, please bump the thread anyway. Thanks!
Harford County, Maryland
Phoenix Diocese!
Yea, but they were keeping it a secret from you. :-)
Diocese of Kansas City/St. Joe.
Not great but getting better! I have hope!
If you have a ping list, please add me to it! Thanks!
Well, this lay order does not claim a direct connection to the original Templars, but they do follow the same rule by St. Bernard, with some minor changes, as the original knightly order.
California, Diocese of Sacramento.
Some conspiratio you got going. What's your secret handshake?
I had a similar thought...(bring it on)!
oh, i was just looking for a certain thread and came across this..
Saw you were in Kansas City. Do you know anything about Benedictine College? We're looking for small, orthodox, but not TOO rad-trad, Catholic colleges for our daughter that have majors in Digital Media Arts, or similar programs. I've printed out some info about the school for her to see, but wanted to know more about it before we went through the expense of a visit to the school.
BY the way, I, and SirKit are in the Diocese of Worcester MA. I'm sure we have now appeared on the 'lists' of the homosexual marriage proponent because we've signed the petition for the State Constitutional Amendment declaring that 'marriage' is only between ONE man and ONE woman.
We're going down to Naples in Nov. to the Ave Maria Univ. Open House. They don't have the major our daughter wants, but we're thinking she could go there for her first two (most impressionable) years, then go on to a small private technical college in Phoenix for her BA in Digital Video Editing. I sure wish that new Catholic college planned for the Phoenix Diocese was up and running!
Another school that has a Digital Cinema major is DePaul in Chicago, but I don't know if she wants to be in a big city, and I'm not so sure about just how 'Catholic' it actually is.
John Paul the Great Univ. is in San Diego, but they can't recruit students yet because they haven't gotten a charter from the State to award diplomas. They will have a major in Communications that seems to involve a lot of what our daughter likes.
She is thinking she'd like to do a semester in Japan, but we were in Tokyo in the summer for a couple of weeks visiting some homeschool friends, and she was not enamored of the rapid pace of life in such a large place. She wants to go, and we want her to go while our friends are still in the country so that someone we know would be close to her in case of an emergency. We're looking at another program outside of Tokyo in another city, smaller, but within an hour's train ride of our friends.
If it's of any help: Victoria, Australia. Archdiocese of Melbourne.
Maryland, archdiocese of Washington
Gee, I missed this the first time around...I think. Hope this isn't a re-post. Diva is in Detroit Michigan's arch-diocese.
YOu do Gregorian Chant! That's great, we have a schola in our church in Detroit too.
Michigan in the parish from Heaven
We are in Bandera County, Texas-Archdiocese of San Antonio.
Dickson County, TN (near Nashville)
