Chartres has a labyrinthe as well. It's a metaphor for our pilgrimage in this world.
To: a history buff
The one in Chartres is not around the Altar and it is nothing more than floor decoration and has only begun to be "used" by New Age types in the last part of the twentieth century. The same people on the labyrinth bandwagon are enamored of enneagrams and other such trifles. You want a journey with God? Go on an Ignation 30 day retreat.

I'd love the 30 days deal. Medieval French cathedrals are chockful of allegories. Look at the other decorations.

You're missing out on some great opportunities if you're not following some of these threads.

Well, if you need any help collating, let me know. Looks like we've a web of sorts with which to yank some chains.
Good deal. Hope to have the nexus up shortly.

Ah, there you are. I don't need help collating, but I want your guidance about format. I envision a database consisting of FR names, dioceses, states, and links to FR profile pages and FReepmail, thus:
Louisiana
Archdiocese of New Orleans
Romulus, FR Profile Page; FReepmail Link

Yes, he was referring to him. Our former priest was a past abuser. He went through 10 yrs of treatment and as far as anyone knows he has never offended again in the past 25 yrs. Our bishop, knowing this, assigned him to our parish at the end of '98 because Bishop Hubbard assured him that the priest was fine. And in reality he did behave. I do imagine that if Hubbard is fighting against zero tolerance for past abuse it is probably because of this priest.
If you are a "modernist"
NO!
and draw spiritual inspiration from the contemporary view that girls should serve at the altar,
No, but there are no Catholic Churches within 100 miles where girls aren't serving.
support the notion of female ordination,
Absolutely not
enjoy sitting through the consecration of the eucharist,
Thank God, we kneel.
prefer liturgical banners to statues, No
find solace in a bare cross
Heaven's NO!
and support the notion of a homosexual priesthood,
More than absolutely not.
then you would feel right at home in the Albany diocese.
I'm glad I live in New Mexico:-}
I think our bishop runs pretty much in the middle, but I could be wrong, I don't know him well.

I think our bishop runs pretty much in the middle, but I could be wrong, I don't know him well. Perhaps the following article that I just posted will help claify your bishop's stance. Hubbard played a key role in reversing the zero tolerance policy at the USCCB.
As bishops' talks end, scandal's effects linger

...I would also suggest that pressing for a
restoration of the right orderin the American Church is a waste of effort. That Church has embraced the surrounding culture to such a degree that restoration is a pipe dream. Rather like envisioning the restoration of a gothic cathedral out of the World Trade Towers.
I'm wondering if we shouldn't consider a complete excavation.

I could be wrong but I believe the Chartres labyrinthe was made as a substitute for the pilgrimage to the Holy Land in the days when pligrimaging in that direction usually cost you your head. So they walked the labyrinthe instead.
