I am trying to get caught up on this most recent horror. Has the WH issued a statement on this? Enough is enough! I can't imagine the fear Israelis are living in. The picture of that poor little girl should be enough. She wasn't caught in a crossfire, she was hunted and gunned down by savages. The US needs to make a bold clear statement that this is it, and Israel has no choice but to do what they have to to protect the innocent.

All this to and fro about GW is pretty useless. While most of us here support Israel's right to defend herself, we must remember that the President's duty is to the USA and its citizens first. (I say this as an American Jew.) If it is in our interests to shmooze the Saudis enough to help our effort to take out Saddam, then so be it. Those nasty sheiks he is dealing with have complex political situations at home. This may be a case like us having to hold our noses and team up with Stalin to defeat Hitler. You do what you have to do. While Israel's long-term interests are the same as ours, that is not to say that our interests will coincide at every point in time. It is in their interests for us to defeat Saddam, who is undoubtedly the greatest threat not only to the region, but to the world.
