Bestselling Christian author Heather Thompson Day has been arrested and charged with injury to a child, elderly, or disabled person. Seth Day, her husband and professor at Southwestern Adventist University (SWAU), faces the same charge, as well as a charge of sexual assault of a child.
Heather Thompson Day is a Christian speaker, podcaster, and the author of several books, including “What If I’m Wrong?: Navigating the Waves of Fear and Failure,” “I’ll See You Tomorrow: Building Relational Resilience When You Want To Quit,” and “It’s Not Your Turn: What To Do While You’re Waiting for Your Breakthrough.”
Her work has been featured by Religion News Service, Christianity Today, Barna Group, and Newsweek.
Seth Day and Heather Thompson Day were taken into custody by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in Texas on Thursday (Sept. 24).
Seth Day is an assistant professor of psychology at SWAU. Both Seth and Heather previously served on the faculty of Andrews University, a Seventh-day Adventist school in Michigan.
SWAU said in a statement posted to social media that the school “has been informed that Seth Day, a faculty member of our school, was taken into custody.”
“Mr. Day has been placed on administrative leave. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement,” said SWAU. “We understand that the current allegations do not involve SWAU students, staff, or other faculty members.”
“The safety of our University community remains our first priority,” the school added. “We will share additional details as appropriate.”
ChurchLeaders has reached out to Heather Thompson Day for comment and will update this article in the event of a response.
