What has happened to masculinity? Saints, I’m looking at these clips and asking a serious question about men, femininity, and what our culture is calling normal. When did strength become toxic and leadership become controlling? I’m talking about men who protect, provide, take responsibility, and stand on something even when the whole room disagrees. On this episode of Saints in the City, we’re having a direct conversation about masculinity, Black men, and the example we’re putting in front of people.
We start with Chris responding to a woman who criticized his nails and said he was making Black men look bad. He has plenty to say about his appearance, paying his own bills, and being himself. But when the conversation turns to fighting somebody in the parking lot, I have a few questions. From men wearing nails to the other social media clips we watch, I’m reacting to what’s being presented and asking where masculine identity fits into all of this. Now, saints, how should Christians respond? I bring this conversation about manhood, masculinity, and femininity back to Scripture, God’s creation of male and female, and our responsibility as believers. I make it clear that disagreement doesn’t mean I hate somebody. We should be praying for people.
