Oh LORD,
 Our One and Only God,
 How Excellent is Your Most Holy Name.
 How Wonderful,
 How Holy,
 How Righteous and How Just and True You Are!
 For You Alone Are Worthy Of Praise and Worship,
 And You Alone Transcend Time and Space,

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

Of David.

1 Vindicate me, Lord,
for I have led a blameless life;
have trusted in the Lord
and have not faltered.

4 I do not sit with the deceitful,

There are so many Descriptive Names of God in this Psalm, that it gives us a look at HIS Personality more even than David's. My Light, My Salvation, My Stronghold; these are all Names that give David confidence and strength in the face of adversity, as long as his dependence is totally on God, and not on his own devices.

One of the Friends of this Thread posted yesterday that David's 26th Psalm was "braggadocious", and I tend to agree! As I stated in my commentary, I cringe a bit when reading David's protestations of innocence, when we know from his history that he was "Pure As The Driven SLUSH" (as my dear Mom used to say!).

I floated the idea that perhaps David's Prayer was prophetic, foreshadowing the moment when the Messiah would take all of our sins upon Himself at Calvary. From that moment, He became Our Advocate in Heaven, and Our Great High Priest, Who, though tempted in all things as we are, is Without Sin. It was just a thought.

Thank God, Psalm 26 is followed by Psalm 27! In it is our answer. David's braggadocio is immediately subjugated to his dependence on God.

God is his Light, his Salvation, and the Stronghold of his Life. He is his Helper, and his Savior, his Shelter, and his Hiding Place.

He is also David's Righteousness. If Psalm 26 is a brag, Psalm 27 is the comeuppance. If Psalm 26 is the question, Psalm 27 is the Answer. If Psalm 26 gives you the cringes, Psalm 27 lifts the veil and gives you courage.

While Self-Confidence may be an illusion, Total Dependence On God Gives Us the Real Confidence that results in Victory.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)
