Father God,
We vow to never forget so that we may be ever watchful to keep it from happening again. We pause this weekend in remembrance of America under attack 25 years ago, and we remember the shock, the fear, the sadness, and the worry. Our memories still hold the tears and the prayers for help from our faithful God. You sustained us, Lord, and You have never forsaken us.
Father, we consider the thousands of innocent victims as well as the heroes of September 11th, 2001---those brave men and women who sacrificed their own comfort and even their own lives to help others in a time of great need in this nation. We salute them, Lord, and thank You for their willingness to lay down their lives for their fellow Americans. Their spirit of love, devotion, and heroism lives on. Thank You for each one of them, Father, and may Your blessings and peace be upon their families and all who survive them. Help us to be a nation that loves You with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength—-filled with those who love their neighbors as themselves.
Lord, we confess that in all the darkness of that day and in the many days that have followed, Your Word and Your truth have given us light. You have not failed us. You remain our Strength, our Rock, our Fortress, and our Deliverer. You are the One in Whom we trust. You are our Strong Tower and our Sure Defense. Surely You are forever worthy of all honor, glory, and praise and blessing.
During this time of continued world tensions, You ease our fears. You save us from our enemies. We are grateful for You Lord, for You neither slumber nor sleep, but are ever ready to protect us.
Father, perhaps there has been no time in recent years in which we find our nation in such tremendous danger. We ask that You give our President Trump and all our leaders the wisdom they need to make the decisions You want them to make. Sadly, many in our nation now have chosen to tear it down from within. We ask for righteous leaders to be elected in November to protect our Constitution and the rights of all citizens.
We pray for peace, Lord, and an end to man’s inhumanity to man. Help us, Lord and keep us steadfast in our trust in You. Enable us to carry Your banner of peace, grace, and hope wherever we go. We need You every hour, Most Precious Lord. In faith we lay these prayers at Your feet, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
