🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem🇮🇱 (8/21/26)[Prayer]

Personalities

2 Samuel 7:18-29

David’s Prayer

18 Then King David went in and sat before the Lord, and he said:

“Who am I, Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? 19 And as if this were not enough in your sight, Sovereign Lord, you have also spoken about the future of the house of your servant—and this decree, Sovereign Lord, is for a mere human![c]

20 “What more can David say to you? For you know your servant, Sovereign Lord. 21 For the sake of your word and according to your will, you have done this great thing and made it known to your servant.

22 “How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. 23 And who is like your people Israel—the one nation on earth that God went out to redeem as a people for himself, and to make a name for himself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out nations and their gods from before your people, whom you redeemed from Egypt?[d] 24 You have established your people Israel as your very own forever, and you, Lord, have become their God.

25 “And now, Lord God, keep forever the promise you have made concerning your servant and his house. Do as you promised, 26 so that your name will be great forever. Then people will say, ‘The Lord Almighty is God over Israel!’ And the house of your servant David will be established in your sight.

27 “Lord Almighty, God of Israel, you have revealed this to your servant, saying, ‘I will build a house for you.’ So your servant has found courage to pray this prayer to you. 28 Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant. 29 Now be pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, Sovereign Lord, have spoken, and with your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed forever.”

Our Father Who Art in Heaven,

Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!

Blessed Are You, Oh LORD, Our God,

King of The Universe,

Who has brought us to This Day.

For You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise.

The Ancient of Days

and The Rock of Our Salvation!

 Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance

Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

The following is a reflection on an incident in the Book of Genesis from a 2022 Thread:

"For decades there has been a controversy among Rock Music Fans as to "What is the Greatest Power-Ballad of All Time?" The two leading contenders are "Dream On" by Aerosmith, and "Stairway To Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. Although the two songs bear absolutely no resemblance to each other, they are both about the same subject: Fear of Death. "Dream On" speaks of seeing oneself aging (Every time I look in the mirror, I see the lines in my face getting clearer...the past is gone..), and "Stairway To Heaven" was written as a way of coping with the death of a child. Neither song has a Biblical viewpoint, but both songs use Biblical imagery. Eric Clapton did the same type of thing when he wrote"Tears in Heaven" to cope with the death of his little boy who fell out of a window. It shows how deeply the stories from the Bible are rooted in our Culture and Our Civilization.

Jacob's Dream about a Stairway to Heaven did not indicate that it is something we can climb ourselves. The Angels go up and down, but Jacob is still on the ground, Dreaming On.

Unlike the Led Zeppelin song, we can't "buy" a Stairway to Heaven, because the Cost is more than any of us could ever afford. It isn't Dreaming, or Buying, or even CLIMBING (like the Old Spiritual Song) that assures us a place in Heaven. It is the Death, Resurrection, and Grace of Jesus.

And so, as the lines in MY face get clearer, I am looking forward to HIM knowing my Name when I see Him in Heaven, and I don't even need a Stairway to get there. He is THE WAY, The Truth, and the Life, and no man gets to the Father without Him.

Stores that sell guitars go nuts every time some amateur tries to play "Stairway To Heaven" on every guitar in the shop. EEK!"

Some of my most creative songwriting came during times of immense hurt, betrayal, isolation, and disappointment. Songwriting became my way of coping with things over which I had no control.

David did the same, and, as we will see when we look at Psalms, there are subtitles to his songs like "When feigning madness" or "While in the Wilderness running from Saul". David commemorates both crises and victories with song. He wrote songs of repentance when he sinned. He wrote songs of frustration when enemies seemed to triumph. He wrote songs about longing for God, relying on God, thanking God, and praising God.

These are the REAL "Power Ballads".

Amen to your word and prayer. Edens Bridge does some beautiful Psalm renditions, Celtic and rockish. BTW, looks like David is missing a few strings in one pic.

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.

You can also say David wrote the first “Cliff Notes” as much of his songs were written while hiding in the cliffs.

Psalm 91

1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.

14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
16 With long life I will satisfy them,
and show them my salvation.
