🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem🇮🇱 (8/20/26)[Prayer]

Personalities
2 Samuel 7:1-17
God’s Promise to David
7 After the king was settled in his palace and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies around him, 2 he said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.”
3 Nathan replied to the king, “Whatever you have in mind, go ahead and do it, for the Lord is with you.”
4 But that night the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying:
5 “Go and tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord says: Are you the one to build me a house to dwell in? 6 I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt to this day. I have been moving from place to place with a tent as my dwelling. 7 Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites, did I ever say to any of their rulers whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, “Why have you not built me a house of cedar?”’
8 “Now then, tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock, and appointed you ruler over my people Israel. 9 I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name great, like the names of the greatest men on earth. 10 And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning 11 and have done ever since the time I appointed leaders[a] over my people Israel. I will also give you rest from all your enemies.
“‘The Lord declares to you that the Lord himself will establish a house for you: 12 When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands. 15 But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you. 16 Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me[b]; your throne will be established forever.’”
17 Nathan reported to David all the words of this entire revelation.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father Who Art in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified
Is Your Most Holy Name!
How Blessed Are You,
Oh LORD, Our God,
King of The Universe,
Who Has Brought Us To This Day!
We Come into Your Presence With Singing
And into Your Courts With Praise,
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The Host High,
You Alone Are The LORD of Hosts,
And You Alone Hold The Power of Life and Death in Your Hand.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Yesterday, I mused a bit about Church Music. However, I didn't say what was my favorite style of Worship Music. My own personal tastes are not what you'd expect. Here's what I posted this morning:
Christian Hymnody has a 2000-year-old history, and is filled with GOOD STUFF.
I love it all, but really enjoy 4 particular genres, and they are RADICALLY Different from one another.
The first is the unaccompanied polyphonic chant of the Russian Orthodox Church. I would gladly stand for 2-3 hours to listen to that music. (Not my branch of Christianity, nor my nationality, but the music really does it for me!)
The next one is Baroque. My 5-Disc CD Changer is loaded up with Bach's St. Matthew's Passion and others of his 248+ Cantatas. The CD changer next to my bed is stuck on Handel's Messiah.
I LOVE Black American Gospel! My first music ministry was in an urban setting, I got to hear a lot of that.
And, finally, I love Israeli-Style Praise music.
I'm pretty flexible when it comes to Worship Music. When I was Music Director of Biker Church, the congregation wanted to hear BLUES.
So I set the Scriptures to 12-bar blues and the band ran with it.
Go Figure!
David was an amazing Songwriter, and the 150 Psalms in the Psalter are just a portion of his work. Scattered throughout Scripture are other songs and prayers attributed to David. His Songs run the gamut from Contemplative, to Praise, to Exhortations to Shout and Dance, to Repentance, to Awe, and many other emotions.
There are even Prophecies in David's Psalms. Even though David had a Prophetic Gift (mostly about the Messiah), he employed Nathan as his Chief Advisor. There are no records of Nathan being a musician, as that wasn't his job. In his job as Prophet to the King, Nathan learned that his own wisdom wasn't enough...he had to consult with God concerning advice.
In today's passage, we see Nathan giving encouraging advice to David, obviously being affirmative and uplifting, but NOT accurate. God corrects Nathan, and Nathan has to get back to David with a somewhat different Message than his original one.
The Prophecy has a duel meaning. Solomon would indeed build a house made of stone for God, but a future descendant of David would be the Chief Cornerstone of a House for God, namely Jesus The Messiah.
David would prophesy these very words in Psalm 118:
Psalm 118:22 (KJV) says, “The stone which the builders refused is be become the head of the corner.” (Jesus also quotes this idea in Matthew 21:42when he teaches that the rejected stone has become the cornerstone.)
David's Personality was such that he sought counsel from Nathan. This shows that, even though he had a Prophetic Gift, he listened to the advice of others. This points to humility before God and His Anointed, a trait poor old Saul never seemed to be able to grasp.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
Blessed Is The Nation Whose God Is The LORD (Psalm 33)
God Bless America.
