🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem🇮🇱 (8/15/26)[Prayer]

Personalities
2 Samuel 4:1-29
Ish-Bosheth Murdered
4 When Ish-Bosheth son of Saul heard that Abner had died in Hebron, he lost courage, and all Israel became alarmed. 2 Now Saul’s son had two men who were leaders of raiding bands. One was named Baanah and the other Rekab; they were sons of Rimmon the Beerothite from the tribe of Benjamin—Beeroth is considered part of Benjamin, 3 because the people of Beeroth fled to Gittaim and have resided there as foreigners to this day.
4 (Jonathan son of Saul had a son who was lame in both feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled, but as she hurried to leave, he fell and became disabled. His name was Mephibosheth.)
5 Now Rekab and Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, set out for the house of Ish-Bosheth, and they arrived there in the heat of the day while he was taking his noonday rest. 6 They went into the inner part of the house as if to get some wheat, and they stabbed him in the stomach. Then Rekab and his brother Baanah slipped away.
7 They had gone into the house while he was lying on the bed in his bedroom. After they stabbed and killed him, they cut off his head. Taking it with them, they traveled all night by way of the Arabah. 8 They brought the head of Ish-Bosheth to David at Hebron and said to the king, “Here is the head of Ish-Bosheth son of Saul, your enemy, who tried to kill you. This day the Lord has avenged my lord the king against Saul and his offspring.”
9 David answered Rekab and his brother Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, “As surely as the Lord lives, who has delivered me out of every trouble, 10 when someone told me, ‘Saul is dead,’ and thought he was bringing good news, I seized him and put him to death in Ziklag. That was the reward I gave him for his news! 11 How much more—when wicked men have killed an innocent man in his own house and on his own bed—should I not now demand his blood from your hand and rid the earth of you!”
12 So David gave an order to his men, and they killed them. They cut off their hands and feet and hung the bodies by the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-Bosheth and buried it in Abner’s tomb at Hebron.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
For You Alone Are Worthy;
You Alone Are LORD;
You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham!
We Come into Your Presence With Singing
And Into Your Courts With Praise,
For Your Are Eternal,
Omnipotent,
And Righteous,
Our Creator,
and The Creator of All That Is!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

It's such a beautiful day, that, as soon as I post this Thread, I'll be hopping on my bike and heading southwest to what is known as "The Bridgewater Triangle". Like the Bermuda Triangle, this area of Massachusetts has a lot of spooky legends attached to it, but unlike the balmy triangle to the southeast, Bridgewater has real historic basis for its eeriness. The entire area was the site of one of the first and most bloody wars fought on American soil. A Native American Chief named Metacomet (AKA "King Philip") led his Warriors in a revolt against English Settlers, and the results were catastrophic. Due to the sparse population density at the time, this is considered to be the deadliest (per-capita) war in American History. Entire villages on both sides were wiped out. Tribes turned against each other and shifted alliances. The Legend is that there's not a single parcel of land that wasn't soaked in blood.
Yet, it's some of the loveliest riding in and around my area. Cranberry bogs, farms, lakes, reservoirs, ancient cemeteries, little churches, and deep woodlands abound. There are also TWO National Historical Parks, The New Bedford Whaling Museum, and Battleship Cove in Fall River. That's not even counting the seemingly endless, disorienting, and downright SPOOKY Freetown State Forest. The Bridgewater Triangle is good for at least four hours of liesurely riding, with plenty of restaurants and ice cream parlors along the way. Plus I have two brothers, and a sister who live in the triangle. I'm on the edge of it, just like when I lived on the margin of the Bermuda Triangle when I lived in Florida.
As anyone who has ever read this thread will attest, I LOVE History, Archaeology, and Literature, and am an avid biker. I'm looking forward to my ride today.
You may wonder what this has to do with today's bloody passage about Ish-Bosheth. David never asked to be chosen over Saul (and Saul's descendants), but it happened. He had been on the run from Saul for years, and had two chances to kill him, but didn't. But it was "time for a change" as the song goes. God was merciful to David, ensuring that David himself could go to his grave never having had to lift his hand against Saul or his sons. Somebody else, (including Saul himself) did the job for him. Nevertheless, like in the time of King Philip's War, the conflict was bloody, had massive "collateral damage", and would haunt David forever.
When Ish-Bosheth, a legitimate contender for the Throne, was murdered by a couple of renegades, David DID NOT reward them. As far as David was concerned, their crime was as bad as killing either Saul or Jonathan. Evidently, David assumed that the Anointing" was passed down through generations.
Sorry this was late today, but my walk this morning was longer than usual!

Psalm 91
1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.
14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
16 With long life I will satisfy them,
and show them my salvation.

Very Few Cagers in The Bridgewater Triangle, Thank Goodness.
They all go to Cape Cod, and leave the Triangle to the Bikers.
Makes the ride extremely NICE!
