WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — A Winter Haven pastor is facing more than 20 criminal charges, including allegations involving a minor as well as four felony counts accusing him of engaging in sexual activity without disclosing his HIV-positive status, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Grady Judd is scheduled to hold a 10 a.m. news conference Tuesday to release additional details surrounding the arrest of 42-year-old Timothy Chaneyfield, whom investigators identified as the pastor of St. James United American Free Will Baptist Church in Winter Haven.
The charges announced by the Sheriff’s Office include three counts of lewd battery of a minor, three counts of traveling to meet a minor, three counts of interfering with the custody of a minor, one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device, four counts of an HIV-infected person engaging in sexual activity without informing a partner, along with drug-related misdemeanor charges.

This is an extreme example, but many church pastoral search and oversight committees have a warped sense of “Christian forgiveness” that causes them to give pastors a pass on way too much. A pastor in my mother’s church resigned suddenly. It came out that he really didn’t have his degree. The oversight committee knew about it and was working with him to try to allow him to get the credits to get the degree. He lied and said he had it, which would be a firing offense in any other job. But apparently not in a church. And, of course, you have all the cover ups in the Catholic Church that were done under some warped sense of Christian forgiveness and mercy. So something like this doesn’t surprise me. Especially if the pastor was charismatic.
I recall that in Africa, HIV-positive men were raping girls, and maybe, boys, under the impression sex with virgins would clean them of the HIV.
While I appreciate solid thinking, raping kids is not the most analogous method to wiping something off your body or taking some curative prescription.
In this case, this criminal deviant simply wanted to rape and kill.
In many urban churches, sexual play is assumed of the clergy. And the music leader is probably gay.
The long-time conservative pastor at a large SBC church I attended long ago was stopped while driving drunk with his small children in their car. He immediately resigned, seeing the writing on the wall. I’m wondering how long he had had trouble with alcohol while preaching at the church.
What is his prison record?
Did he “find Jesus” in stir?

You have been watching too much Obama ... errr ...Netflix

42? Looks 62. What is it with these creepy pervs? They are actually easy to spot - always have some queer thing about them. But people seem to want to not notice.
This should be good...
Churches need to have used, wet, human sized millstones displayed prominently in their church buildings.
If only they would let them marry.....
