The woman was having terrible gastro-intestinal issues, but had fallen through the cracks in the Medical System, with no insurance, no doctor, but not qualified for Public assistance. So she went on her cell phone and paid a small fee to talk to a real doctor. He was terrific, gave her good advice, which she followed, and it solved her problem.

A month later, she saw an additional charge on her credit card. Then another, then another. She investigated the matter and found out that by checking a box on the website, she had signed up FOR LIFE, even if she never consulted with a doctor again. The "Fine Print", which was even tinier than the font on a smart phone, and buried in a massive paragraph of legal and medical language, was there, and she had signed it. The Credit Card company eventually worked it out for her, and now she has a doctor and is super vigilant about online "offers".

David never had designs on Saul's position. Samuel had anointed both Saul and David, so it would be safe to assume that God would take care of the manner of succession. From Scripture we can see that David never schemed against Saul, never went on the offensive, and spent most of his time trying not to get killed. David had married one of Saul's daughters, was best friends with one of his sons, and served faithfully.

Saul's pursuit of David despite his promise of forgiveness and peace, were the actions of a deeply troubled man. The traits are those of what modern-day psychologists call "Narcissistic Personality Disorder". The lying, promise-breaking, manipulation, false accusations, paranoia, and gaslighting are common traits of this disorder, and Saul exhibits them all in spades.

Because David is the chief target of Saul's "NPD", he does things that he probably would never had done otherwise. He's become a fugitive, a mercenary, a pillager, and now, a "Bodyguard For Life" to an equally wicked king, his pursuer's enemy.

This will all come back to haunt David many years later.

Along with severe family issues, David will experience what would be his biggest disappointment: He would be told by God that the Glorious Temple in Jerusalem would NOT be built by David, but by his son, a generation later.

God's reason for this decision is that "David had shed TOO MUCH BLOOD".

David should have looked at the Fine Print before he "checked the box" with the Philistines.
