My favourite Saint kissing the ring of my favourite Archbishop
I did not know that there were people evil enough to try to falsely use the dead Padre Pio to slander the great Archbishop Lefebvre.
However, because I now know, I think it useful to post this in order to help preventing the spreading of lies.
Two words more in general: everybody who knows two things of Padre Pio knows that 1) he hates the “aggiornamento”, and 2) he hoped to die before having to celebrate the Mass of Paul VI.
There is no planet in which Padre Pio would not have been sympathetic to Archbishop Lefebvre’s issues. In fact, Padre Pio suffered the same wounds, he was saddened by the antics already going on in the same way! Padre Pio simply died, according to his wishes, without having to make the kind of definitive choice that was the lot of the saintly Archbishop.
Padre Pio was given, together with many old priests, an exemption to keep celebrating the TLM for the rest of his life. The idea here is that these priests were old and, in order to avoid troubles, the Vatican chose to pretend that they were “dogs too old to learn new tricks”. I do not remember whether Padre Pio had to apply for the exemption or whether it was given to him automatically. What is very clear to those who know about him is this: having to celebrate the New Mass would have been the greatest challenge of his life, and he might well have refused to obey the Pope in sin.
The much younger Archbishop Lefebvre, to whom Providence had entrusted a different role, did not have the luxury of old age. In 1975, he was ordered to shut down shop. Thankfully, and providentially, he refused to obey. His refusal to follow the pope in sin is the only reason why a lot of wannabe “traditionalists” today have the TLM.
Padre Pio and the Archbishop clearly were kindred spirit. They were cut of the same wood. Their pious, saintly, extremely solid sensus catholicus was the same. They understood the problem that was already raging in exactly the same way. What was different in them was the age, the concrete situation in which they were operating, and that Padre Pio, through his exemption, was not put in the binary situation in which Archbishop Lefebvre found himself several years after the encounter.
I believe they are both in heaven now. They have fought their battle.
We are still in the middle of ours. Let us work hard to be with them one day.

Another anonymous author, ebby? ImagineThat! I underestimated you. This is the looniest loon yet. fired strickland almost looks sane compared to this Bellevue Hospital inmate.
Why complain?
You're an anonymous heretic and I'm an anonymous Catholic.
Here goes, oystir:
Go ahead, look them up.
Maybe that will shut-you up for a few blessed hours of peace.
Do you have a link to those quotations?
With this assurance of God’s abiding presence, I send prayerful greetings to Your Grace on the occasion of your Installation as Archbishop of Canterbury.
I know that the office for which you have been chosen is a weighty one, with responsibilities not only in the Diocese of Canterbury, but throughout the Church of England as well as the Anglican Communion as a whole. Moreover, you are commencing these duties at a challenging moment in the history of the Anglican family. In asking the Lord to strengthen you with the gift of wisdom, I pray that you may be guided by the Holy Spirit in serving your communities, and draw inspiration from the example of Mary, the Mother of God.
...
With these fraternal sentiments, I invoke upon you the blessings of Almighty God as you take up your high responsibilities. May the Holy Spirit come down upon you and make you fruitful in the Lord’s service.
FYI, oystir:
You may want to pass this papal encyclical on to Pope Leo XIV because he seems to unaware of it also. After all, the conciliar/synodal "church" only came into existence in the 1960's.
I highly doubt that he would have disobeyed the Pope. Just look at the recent exorcist shut down by a cardinal and I felt the exorcist had a better case because he couldn’t have done interviews without bishop level support and approval. Not saying he couldn’t refuse but they’re not all Martin Luthers. Most priests, bishops etc. believe in the hierarchy & to buck it means trouble.
What’s loony about the writer? No conspiracy theories, just an account of +Lefevbre’s meeting with Padre Pio. Maybe you’re the one with the problem.
Not for the German nor the CCPA bishops; and neither of them have been declared excommunicated and in schism.
I have the links and will post them later.
For now, I want to keep my stalker busy.
Definitely!
Who is sounding like Jesus in this thread?
Debate.
The Chinese Catholics continue in the faith, bo bishop to help them. They cannot even get sacraments, any, in dome instances.
Like the Japanese Catholics for 200 years.
This I want to reflect on. This is what I see in the Catholic Church short term. It worries me.
