🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem🇮🇱 (7/14/26)[Prayer]

Personalities
1 Samuel 13
13 Saul reigned one year; and when he had reigned two years over Israel,
2 Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel; whereof two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.
3 And Jonathan smote the garrison of the Philistines that was in Geba, and the Philistines heard of it. And Saul blew the trumpet throughout all the land, saying, Let the Hebrews hear.
4 And all Israel heard say that Saul had smitten a garrison of the Philistines, and that Israel also was had in abomination with the Philistines. And the people were called together after Saul to Gilgal.
5 And the Philistines gathered themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the sea shore in multitude: and they came up, and pitched in Michmash, eastward from Bethaven.
6 When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.
7 And some of the Hebrews went over Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead. As for Saul, he was yet in Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling.
8 And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.
9 And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering.
10 And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him.
11 And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash;
12 Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the Lord: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering.
13 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the Lord thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the Lord have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.
14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the Lord commanded thee.
15 And Samuel arose, and gat him up from Gilgal unto Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men.
16 And Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people that were present with them, abode in Gibeah of Benjamin: but the Philistines encamped in Michmash.
17 And the spoilers came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies: one company turned unto the way that leadeth to Ophrah, unto the land of Shual:
18 And another company turned the way to Bethhoron: and another company turned to the way of the border that looketh to the valley of Zeboim toward the wilderness.
19 Now there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears:
20 But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to sharpen every man his share, and his coulter, and his axe, and his mattock.
21 Yet they had a file for the mattocks, and for the coulters, and for the forks, and for the axes, and to sharpen the goads.
22 So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan: but with Saul and with Jonathan his son was there found.
23 And the garrison of the Philistines went out to the passage of Michmash.

This was written about six years ago, and things haven't changed much:
Several years ago, my Coffeemake burned out. YIKES! I had to get a new one, Pronto, ASAP, STAT, Wiki-Wiki. No Way can I be without my Morning Coffee. And so, the SEARCH began.
Couldn't buy it at TARGET because of their ousting of the Salvation Army Santa back in the 2000s. Walmart was also out because they had chased away my Dad when he was selling candy to benefit Disabled Children with The Knights of Columbus back in the 1990s. Macy's was out because they were overpriced. That left Kohl's, which hadn't yet registered on my "WOKE-Dar". And so, it was a trip to Kohl's to find a Coffee Maker that was NOT Made In China.
That started an entirely new odyssey. All the small appliances were Made in China. I searched and searched. It was a horrible dilemma. I had to have my coffee! Finally I found one in a box that said "Made in USA". After buying it though, I heard a rumor that China had named one of its new industrial towns "USA" to deceive people like me. The ridiculous Supply-Chain problems that we are now suffering in America can be directly traced to our dependence on China for our clothing, transportation, appliances, and everyday goods. It is very hard to break free.
This sort of thing continues to this day, as engines fall off airplanes because a screw was made of soft metal instead of steel, buildings topple because the foundation was made of sand instead of reinforced concrete, helicopters crash due to faulty bolts on the rotor, and so on. Yet, my "MADE IN THE USA" coffeemaker is still chugging away.
The Personalities of Samuel and Saul overlap for a few chapters, and their interactions reveal a great deal about both of them.
Saul is impatient, presumptuous, and bull-headed. Samuel is devoted to God, but somewhat rigid in his approach to Saul's transgressions. When Samuel takes his time getting to Saul, the king takes it upon himself to become a High Priest as well as a king: He offers a burnt sacrifice to God. Bear in mind, Saul wasn't worshiping a false god, nor was he sacrificing the wrong kind of animal. He was doing everything "by the book", except that it wasn't his job. Saul was usurping the role of a priest. Evidently he'd never heard of "Separation of Church and State".
Samuel wasn't totally innocent in this encounter. He showed up late when Saul needed him the most. He could have sent a messenger to assure Saul that he would be there soon. While Saul may have shown a lack of Faith and Patience, Samuel showed a lack of Consideration (Charity).
New Testament Readers may recognize that Faith, Patience, and Charity are three of the Nine Fruits of the Holy Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-23). Both Samuel and Saul had been anointed with oil for their positions, and both of them had experienced the Infilling of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Both had Prophesied, both had received Power from On High, and both SHOULD have known better.
But, their personalities got in the way of their walking in the Fullness of God's Power and Peace. This conflict was one of mutual need, except that Saul was always disappointing Samuel, and Samuel was always scolding Saul.
During this difficult time in Israel's History, it was against the law to work with iron. Israel ended up having a shortage, and they had to buy farm implements and weapons from their enemy, whose forges were operating 24/7.
Not only that, but just try and get a Coffeemaker NOT made in China!

Psalm 91
1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.
14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
16 With long life I will satisfy them,
and show them my salvation.

I think Chemex and Bunn coffee makers are still made in the USA, I don’t know their prices...I have my trusted Moka espresso machine and Illy coffee as a sentimental link to Italy.
Adding my prayers for Israel. God bless.

Thanks! I’ll check it out.
So far , my old coffeemaker is still holding the line, but maybe I’d better get a Chemex or Bunn to keep in case, disaster strikes again!

Amen to your word and prayer. I am reminded of one of my lacking fruits every time I drive my car and get upset. BTW, there is a town or city in Japan called Usa, named before USA was a thing, sayn.
