🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(6/11/26)[Prayer]

Personalities

Judges 1:1-4

14 And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines.

2 And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife.

3 Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.

4 But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the Lord, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.

( The King James Version)

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Dear Father in Heaven,
Blessed Are You, Oh LORD,
Our God,
King of the Universe,
Ancient of Days,
Our Rock and Our Redeemer!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
For You Alone Are Worthy; You Alone Are Holy;
You Alone Are Righteous and Just;
And You Alone Are The One True God of The Universe!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

My sister and I were finishing our meal, when a man walked into the restaurant with a little PA system. We thought he was a musician, and debated staying for dessert and coffee... but then we realized it was a Trivia Game. I excel at Trivia, but with my hearing loss and a noisy restaurant environment, it's not fun for me. So we we paid the check and left.

A sure-fire way to stump people in a Trivia Contest is to ask this question:

"What is the last line in the movie 'Gone With The Wind'?"

The majority of people would quote Rhett Butler's iconic retort:

"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."

While this line caused the lion's share of controversy in 1939 when the movie was released, it was not the very last line in the film. It was Scarlet's line that brought the surge of music and the Closing Credits:

"Tomorrow is Another Day!"

So, why was Rhett Butler's line remembered so vividly? To the argument that the late 1930s were a gentler time, and more sensitive to profanity, I could say,

Seriously? We're talking 1939! Mussolini was enslaving Italy with Fascism, Hitler was invading Poland, and Japan was raping Nanking! And you guys are upset about "hell and damn"?

But, I digress. (I do that sometimes). Anyway, let's talk about Scarlet's last line, which is actually more poignant. She prefaces her last line with "I'll think about that tomorrow." This can be expressing optimism, hope, and determination, or it could be expressing the opposite: despair, procrastination, and an inability to cope with reality in the present. In Scarlet's case, it was probably the former, but I think we have all experienced the latter on occasion.

Certain passages in the Bible could possibly be misconstrued as having that attitude. How can we plan tomorrow if we have no idea what is going to happen from one day to the next. We can have a budget planned for this and that home renovation and then have the furnace break down in the night, filling the house with smoke and carbon monoxide and reassigning all those funds for a new heating system.

(This happened to my sister a few years ago...thank GOD for CO Detectors, which saved their lives.) Sis had some wonderful projects in mind, but now she needed a new furnace, which was, of course, much more important. Her only consolation was a remark from a firefighter who was setting up the fans to clear out the smoke and CO from the house.

"Ma'am, I've been in nearly every mobile home in this park for one thing or the other, and I gotta tell you, you have the nicest, classiest decor of the all!"

She DOES have nice taste! My favorite designer, on the other hand, is the "Boutique d'Armie de la Salvacion".

Scarlet O'Hara learned the hard way about "Delayed Gratification". She longed for what she couldn't have (Ashley Wilkes) and married several times to "tide her over". When she finally confronted Ashley, she realized that he had never been the right one for her at all. Samson was the opposite. He seemed to be in a state of constant demand for Instant Gratification. he wanted what he wanted, WHEN he wanted it, in nobody could stand in his way. This could have been because his parents spoiled him rotten, but, at this point, they seem to be in despair as to how to handle him. One weak little objection from Dad (Are there no pretty girls among our own people?), and Samson just does whatever he wants. It's a major aspect of Samson's Personality, and it now has a name, "Narcissistic Personality Disorder". The demand for Instant Gratification is a symptom.

We do NOT know what is going to happen tomorrow. However, we must not despair, but rather, live each day in God's care, and leave the rest to Him. The whole of Scripture is about Trusting God for tomorrow, and walking in the Light of His Provision. Today has enough worries of its own, and "Tomorrow is Another Day!"

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
