🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(6/3/26)[Prayer]

Personalities

Judges 6:25-32

25 And it came to pass the same night, that the Lord said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it:

26 And build an altar unto the Lord thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down.

27 Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the Lord had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his father's household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night.

28 And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that was by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built.

29 And they said one to another, Who hath done this thing? And when they enquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash hath done this thing.

30 Then the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the grove that was by it.

31 And Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him plead for himself, because one hath cast down his altar.

32 Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead against him, because he hath thrown down his altar.

( The King James Version)

Our Father
Who Art in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified
Is Your Most Holy Name!
How Blessed Are You,
Oh LORD, Our God,
King of The Universe,
Who Has Brought Us To This Day!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

In a lovely, exclusive neighborhood nearby, a man come home from work one day, killed his wife and infant son, and then shot himself. The neighborhood was stunned. Soon, candles, flowers, teddy bears, crosses, statues, and toys began to pile up on the lawn of the vacated home. People were expressing their grief in increasingly bizarre ways. After a lengthy legal battle, the house was sold, but the votive offerings continued to pile up on the lawn. The new owners were at their wit's end. They would clean up the "shrine" every day, and then, in the morning, it piled up again. Finally, they put up a huge fence with a bunch of signs on it:

NO TRESPASSING
NO DUMPING
KEEP OUT

The "offerings" eventually stopped, but, just one town over, a similar "shrine" for two teens killed in a car accident continues unabated. Perhaps the owner of the Car-Crash House knew the two teens, or maybe doesn't have the heart to remove the shrine. What people don't seem to realize is that all their candles, flowers, teddy bears, crosses, statues, and toys won't bring the people back from the dead.

Today's Reading involves a grove of trees that Gideon cuts down. Why would he do such a thing? Trees are lovely. I imagine that they were a precious thing in the arid Middle East

This particular grove of trees, however, was a Shrine to Ba'al. It was, in fact, a Temple Made of Trees, and the site of Idolatry and Sin.

God instructed Gideon to cut down the Trees and use them as fuel to sacrifice to The One True God. Gideon obeyed God, but did the job at night, when he thought nobody was looking.

Of course, everybody KNEW it had been Gideon and so, they confronted him.

Gideon's answer was interesting:

"You think you need to defend Ba'al?
Let Ba'al defend HIMSELF!"

Needless to say, Ba'al didn't defend himself, and Gideon got a new nickname.

Although Gideon obeyed God, he did so in a decidedly UN-heroic fashion.

It was an aspect of his personality, I guess.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Psalm 91

1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.

14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
