Oh LORD,
Our God!
How Excellent is Your Name Over All the Earth!
It Is Such A Good Thing To Praise Your Name,
Holy and Sanctified,

The 1950s were the Era of Rock 'n' Roll, which was music of rebellion. It wasn't "political" rebellion, but rather just a lot of teenage angst, lost love, romance, and heartbreak. In the 1960s, a different kind of rebellion became a part of the music. It became agenda-driven, political, and a polemic against the norms of society. Out of this movement emerged a new kind of "entertainer", the "Singer-Songwriter". Instead of drawing their material from Broadway's songwriters, the entertainer wrote and performed his or her own songs. Bob Dylan is the prime example of the Singer-Songwriter.

This new model changed Pop music forever. An unfortunate feature of this style of music is the length of the songs. There are a LOT of lyrics to memorize! But since the artist was singing his own song, with his own vision, the composer usually had no problem remembering the verses. A melody has a way of cementing the lyrics into one's memory.

In today's Reading we see that Moses was a Singer-Songwriter as well as a Lawgiver, Judge, Intercessor, Shepherd, Warrior, and whatever other role God assigned to him. God has not only given Moses the WRITTEN Law to guide the People, He is now about to inspire Moses to SING the Whole Story, so that the people will never forget it.

Amen, don’t recall that he sung it, but I will wait, meanwhile wondering what the tune will be..Lots of unfortunate moral destruction came from the new music philosophy of that time. Many a victim, but mercy and foregiveness is greater.
