Deuteronomy 15:1-5

15 At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release.

2 And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the Lord's release.

3 Of a foreigner thou mayest exact it again: but that which is thine with thy brother thine hand shall release;

4 Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the Lord shall greatly bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it:

If I'm ever asked "What was the best Year of your life?", I can sat, without hesitation,

"1976!"

Here's Why:

1. I was the Lead Singer and Rhythm Guitar Player in a Four-Piece Blues Band that was gigging around New England.(hard work but fun)

2. Recently Married and owned our first home.

3. I was a Bicycle Messenger in the City of Boston. Didn't make much money, but I was getting a lot of exercise. (And I looked FABULOUS!)

4. It was America's Bicentennial, and everybody was in a Festive Mood: Flags everywhere, Fireworks, Red, White, and Blue crosswalks, Parades, Concerts, The Boston Pops and the Tall Ships. It was a WONDERFUL TIME.

It's now 50 years later, and America is celebrating her 250th Birthday on July 4th, 2026. I might just ride the Motorcycle to the Charles River to hear the Pops Concert, but I don't think it will be the same without conductor Arthur Fiedler(RIP).

Fifty-Year Anniversaries are called "Jubilees". That term comes to us from this Passage of Scripture, and is based on the Principle of The Sabbath. Not only days were counted in sevens, but years were too. Every Seventh Year would be a rest for the Land. Not just the land got a rest (crop rotation?), but Servitude would get a rest, as well as Debts and Properties. Laws were put in place to prevent people fraudulently using this system to take advantage of their countryman.

Seven times Seven is Forty-Nine, and in the FIFTIETH Year, a "Jubilee" was Celebrated. America is celebrating her FIFTH Jubilee this Entire Year.

The Theme of the Jubilee were the words Cecil B. DeMille chose from Scripture to end the Movie "The Ten Commandments".

These words came from the pen of Moses, and are inscribed on our Liberty Bell:

"PROCLAIM LIBERTY THROUGHOUT THE LAND"

Yep, Folks! The words inscribed on the Liberty Bell are from the Bible.
