What Do You Love More; America or THE LORD JESUS? My Jesus Tis of Thee (Sung to; My Country Tis of Thee)
The Ignorant Fishermen Blog ^ | 5/12/26

Dear friend, who or what do you personally agape love more: America or the LORD JESUS CHRIST? Seems like a simple enough question, but many agape love this nation and its temporal place in time on this passing world stage more than the ETERNAL RIGHTEOUS Creator and ETERNAL PROPITIATION and SAVIOR of their souls (Matt. 10:37-38, John 3:16-17, Heb. 1:2-3; 1 John 4:10). When we agape love Jesus more than anyone or any nation, we can only ever be the best citizen while on the pilgrim road.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also,” (Matthew 6:21).

In such days may our love of nation take an ETERNAL second place to the agape love and dedication to the ETERNAL RIGHTEOUS SAVIOR of this passing world (Matt. 6:33, John 3:16-17; 1 John 2:15-17). When one's love is prioritized rightly, then only Almighty God's blessing can follow and bless the second! May we be abiding believing Christians first and then conservatives second; for that is the right order and our chief priority.

Below is a song about the object of the redeemed's sincere affections! May this be our sincere and true desire! Maranatha! 😊☝️👍✌️

The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!

Why does one have to be to the exclusion of the other; one cannot love Jesus and love America, both in different ways and for different reasons???

Me thinks someone is trying to divide “Christian” Americans.

Exactly - unless tiF thinks that loving America means not loving Jesus

I think his point was that there are people who profess to be Christians, while at the same time letting politics (in the name of patriotism) guide their acts and thoughts instead of Jesus. We see this especially on the Left, where often politics IS their religion, but you see it on the Right as well, including in these forums.

But its like saying my Love for Jesus and the resulting Christianity cannot be a core value that informs my love for America as well??? That’s difficult to square against how Christian’s faith and the values from it were defining elements in the nation’s founding.

Traditionally, patriotism is considered a Christian virtue (Thomas Aquinas), as we should have love for and be grateful to our country and be willing to sacrifice for our nation from which we've derived so many blessings. The trouble is when we put our nation and politics BEFORE Jesus and his teachings. For example, I regularly see posters here that profess to be Christians advocate machine gunning unarmed illegal aliens as they cross the border. From a godless political standpoint, fantasizing about such a thing may seem appropriate, but it can not be squared from a Christian standpoint at all, even in a joking manner.

That’s difficult to square against how Christian’s faith and the values from it were defining elements in the nation’s founding.

Not when we don't live out (personally and as a nation) those Christian values upon which this nation was founded. Alex de Tocqueville was said, "America is great because America is good. When America ceases to be good, she will cease to be great."

My man; don’t hate your boy…. that’s what “gentle” Jesus said; who is the ETERNAL Son of God; sadly many do have it inverted, (Matt. 6:33;10:37-38); they don’t have a biblical Jesus and can not see past this fallen subjective demonic world ( Eph. 2:1-3); me thinks that you might be one of them;🧐; Will, read the full post and then comment; it’s not a holier than thou statement but a biblical one;

Remember Jesus said to pray; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven; Matt. 6:9-13, Col. 3:1-4)✌️☝️😊👍

Shalom ✌️😊

Declared Invasions have consequences in nations who claim a biblical foundation of law and order, but have been a wretched hive of scum and villainy enabling lawlessness, just us and disorder, especially under the pretense of being ‘compassionate and Christian’

Like the scum Pope

Christian nations can have borders guarded by guns.
And walls.
And laws.
And order.

I didn’t close the border and declare an invasion.

The current duly elected President and Commander in Chief did.

Thankfully the border isn’t nearly as lawless as it had been with the likes of fine compassionate religious folks like Bush-Clinton-Bush-Obama-Biden.

Nobody here says they can't. In fact, it's something here we all agree on.

Nobody says you did.

That is right. We are a nation of laws. From a Christian perspective those laws should be formulated and applied using Christian values. That is what this whole discussion is about-- the danger or of Christians placing political and worldly ideology over Christian priciples.

Thankfully the border isn’t nearly as lawless as it had been with the likes of fine compassionate religious folks like Bush-Clinton-Bush-Obama-Biden.

Which we would all agree is misplaced compassion by stupid people. But compassion is a Christian obligation and there are ways of applying it that are not stupid and misguided.

....

I’d really call it treason and sedition, but used the language not to offend any Christians who think the nation isn’t currently at war within and without, even against enemies domestic that claim ‘religion’ as their cause.

But you and I will have mileages that vary greatly
