A New Study For A New Year: Personalities

Numbers 33:1-2

33 These are the journeys of the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt with their armies under the hand of Moses and Aaron.

2 And Moses wrote their goings out according to their journeys by the commandment of the Lord: and these are their journeys according to their goings out.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and Heavenly Father
You Are The Source of My Strength
You Are My Stronghold,
And My Only Refuge!
Yet, the enemy oppresses me from every side,
They mock and laugh at me,
And say "Where is your god?"
You Alone Are The One Who can Vindicate me
You Alone are the Righteous Judge Over all.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

It was a straight shot on the highway from Hampton Roads, VA to Richmond. I had just traded my old Sportster for a Brand New 1993 Harley Davidson FXR Superglide. The Highway seemed empty, and I decided to see what my new Bike could do, so I pinned the Throttle. The new bike (which I still ride 33 years later), accelerated like a speeding bullet. The speedometer went up to 120 and stopped there, and then I felt a little wobble and backed off the throttle. I'll never do that again, but it sure felt good!

My husband caught up with me at the next gas station and YELLED at me. (He never yelled at me). I apologized profusely, but I just HAD to know what she could do.

In Richmond, we went to the home of Edgar Allen Poe and the "Confederate White House". Then we headed north on I95 to Washington DC, a distance of about 100 miles.

Every time I saw a brown and white street sign, directing us to a National Park or Monument, we got off the Highway and explored. Between Richmond and Washington are many Civil War Battlefields, and we visited Manasses, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, The Wilderness, and Spotsylvania Courthouse. At each stop was a Museum, and we visited those too.

When we got to DC, we mustered at The Pentagon Parking Lot with 300,000 other motorcycles and rode in Rolling Thunder to honor our Vets.

After "overnighting" in DC, we headed North on 95, but veered Northwest to Visit Harper's Ferry. That deserved more than a Day to explore, but we just stayed a few hours. Then we went to Antietam, and after that, Gettysburg. We had been on the road for so long that by the time we got to Nyack NY, we stayed overnight at a Super 8 Motel. The next morning we headed home, avoiding New York City, and picked up the Mass Pike in Sturbridge.

All in all, two weeks on the road, but WHAT a Trip!.

From Today's Scripture Portion, to the end of the Book of Numbers, Moses relates the Journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. Instead of Two Weeks, it Took FORTY YEARS. (Technically, it's only ten hours from Boston to DC, but that's without stopping for anything but gas.)

Moses gives an Itinerary that is very detailed and much harder to pronounce than mine. This, and more instructions and ordinances, complete the Book of Numbers. (Of course, there are more NUMBERS as well.

Tomorrow, we will continue to explore the personality of Moses as he writes his Memoirs in the Book of Deuteronomy.
