The Vicariate of Rome has announced that the Grand Mosque of Rome will host an interreligious gathering titled “Cristiani e musulmani in dialogo alla Grande Moschea” on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 5pm. The move has prompted debate over what is proper conduct in interfaith and ecumenical meetings.
The event is jointly organised by the Centro Islamico Culturale d’Italia and the Diocese of Rome. Catholic participants will include Auxiliary Bishop Marco Valenti of the Northern Sector, Mgr Marco Gnavi, responsible for the Office for Ecumenism, interreligious dialogue and new cults, and Prof Wasim Salman of the PISAI (Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies). The Islamic side will feature Dr Abdellah Redouane, secretary general of the Islamic Cultural Centre of Italy, and Imam Nader Akkad, who will lead a guided visit of the mosque.
During the meeting, the Italian Bishops’ Conference and PISAI will present “Cards to learn about Islam” – information sheets on Islam prepared jointly by a mixed Christian-Muslim commission. Entry to the event is free and open to the public. In the official press release dated April 30, 2026, Mgr Gnavi emphasised the Diocese of Rome’s longstanding commitment to dialogue, citing the example of Bishop Leone and referencing Pope Francis’s encyclical Fratelli Tutti. He recalled Cardinal Baldassare Reina’s visit to the same mosque on January 10, 2025 and described the forthcoming encounter as an opportunity to enlarge the “space of peace” in a world marked by conflict and violence.
Critical reaction has been swift. Traditional Catholic voices have questioned the wisdom of holding high-profile dialogue events inside a major mosque while Christians face persecution throughout the Islamic world.
Noteworthy observers have highlighted the asymmetry: Catholic leaders routinely extend gestures of fraternity inside Islamic institutions, while similar access or symbolic reciprocity for Christian worship in many Muslim-majority settings remains restricted or impossible.

He will let Islam "inside the city gates."
And don't get me wrong. Many Protestant theologians are right there with him.
Islam is evil. It is demonic.
Will the “Christians” choose to pray towards Mecca?
Fools Rush In Where Angels Fear To Tred.
The muslims are there to get the measurements for the new drapes when they take over the Vatican.
It’s head cutting time.
The Roman Catholic church has practiced an “evolving” theology for a long time. Assimilation and syncretism of the provincial beliefs of new adherents. The papacy probably thinks the muzzies will play nice. Probably a 45 year span before wholesale slaughter of Roman Catholics by their new overlords until submission to Islam is accomplished.
In my fevered humble opinion. Just look at Nigeria for a clue to the future.
This pope and his predecessor love Islam because it is a made up religion with few rules for its leaders and many restrictions on its followers. It’s a religious facade draped over totalitarianism. Much like this Godless creep uses Catholicism as a drape for his communist ideology. This clown believes in God as much as he believes in Allah.
Things are proceeding as expected
The One-World Religion will come
Any Vatican - Latin mass gatherings happening this century?
Maybe after the satanic gathering?
I’m Catholic until the day I die, but I rarely go to Mass these days. It’s a combination of being old & having trouble getting out as much but also because I don’t recognize my church after the damage done by the liberal twits Francis & Leo in the last 13 yrs. 🤬
I’ve been reading Camp of the Saints & it looks like Leo is determined to fulfill the Muslim vision of dominance over Christianity per the book. I pray Leo’s reign is short.
Catechism 841 is also to blame
Unfortunately 🤦🤦♀️🤦♂️
God bless
This Pope really likes them Muslims. (Muslims are good Jew haters.)
More like the None World Religion. Muzzie and Christian belief systems are so different, they won’t be able to get along..
I actually had Muslim friends years ago in Chicago and Los Angeles, Two branches of the same Muslim family. Wealthy, highly intelligent, successful. VERY likable. We never talked religion but we did discuss food, their versions and mine. The matriarch gave gentle pushes in my direction to her eldest son.
No way.
One Muslim friend helped get me through a couple of tough spots many years ago
Last I saw of him he had cancer - I didn’t even recognize him
I have not been able to see him since last year
I’ve been to his house three times including last week
No one ever answers the door 🚪
My texts are read but no answer
I’m not certain that he’s still alive
Yes I let him know last year that several Christians were praying for his healing but I don’t know what happened with him
The Roman Catholic Church assimilated Roman paganism with ease, I’m sure it will eventually find a way to assimilate Islam, too. Beyond martyring Protestants I mean.
Your screen name fits you very well:
"Chicken lips" is a phrase used to signify a lie or absurdity because chickens do not have lips. It is commonly used to imply something is obviously false or to describe nonsensical "what-if" scenarios.
I did not know that.
“Paragraph 841 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church addresses the Church’s relationship with Muslims, stating that the plan of salvation includes those who acknowledge the Creator, specifically Muslims who profess to hold the faith of Abraham. The text asserts that Muslims and Catholics together adore the one, merciful God, who is the judge of mankind on the last day.”
“This paragraph is drawn directly from Vatican II documents, specifically Lumen Gentium 16 and Nostra Aetate 3, and serves to highlight theological commonalities rather than affirming that Islam is a path to salvation or that Muslim theology is identical to Christian doctrine. While the Church teaches that Jesus Christ is the sole means of salvation, it acknowledges that God’s mercy may extend to those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel but seek God with a sincere heart and follow the dictates of their conscience.”

Paragraph 841 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church states:
“The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day”
Is this from the same folks who assembled a Book long ago that contained:
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
