Exodus 34:1-9

34 And the Lord said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest.

2 And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount.

3 And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.

4 And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.

5 And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord.

6 And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

8 And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.

9 And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.

How True is Your Word, and How Mighty!
How Glorious, to Span the Millennia,

and the Beginning from The End!

Let all that has been Concealed

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,

On a shelf in my kitchen are two coffee mugs. They are about 12 ounces each, and made of translucent cut glass. One is a pearly violet color, and the other is more pink in tone, but both have a soft blend of color that resembles tie-dye fabric. I have owned these two mugs for 42 years and have never used them. They were a Birthday Gift from my husband, and have been moved six times, both by air and by car. Here's why I've never used them:

These were hand made in Hebron Israel, the location of the Tomb of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We were able to visit the Tomb, but under strict supervision and protection. Somehow, in that emotionally and spiritually charged atmosphere, my husband managed to slip into a shop and purchase these as a Birthday Present.

Hebron is in the area of Israel know as "The West Bank". Israelis call it "Judea and Samaria". It is an epicenter of unrest and civil disorder. Even if I ever get a chance to go to Israel again, it's unlikely that I will be able to go to a gift shop in Hebron.

Since my husband died in 2011, they are one of the very few things I have from him.

While it's entirely possible that similar Coffee Mugs might be available on eBay, they would not be the same. If they came crashing to the floor they would not be repairable.

And so, they sit there on the shelf, to remind me of better times. Even if ALL my other Coffee Mugs are in the Dishwasher, I'll remove one and wash it by hand rather than use my Hebron Mugs. They can't be replaced.

Moses, in his anger, smashed the Two Tablets of the Ten Commandments into little pieces. At that point, God could have said:

"OK, Moishe, I'm DONE with YOU! Here I gave you these LOVELY Tablets and you couldn't control your Temper and NOW Look What You've Done! NO SOUP FOR YOU!"

But that's not what happened. God, in His Mercy, instructs Moses to come back up the mountain and get another set of Tablets.

This tells us more about GOD'S Personality than even of Moses.
