🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(4/16/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities

Exodus 18:13-27

13 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening.

14 And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even?

15 And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God:

16 When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.

17 And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.

18 Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.

19 Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:

20 And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.

21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

22 And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.

23 If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.

24 So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.

25 And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

26 And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.

27 And Moses let his father in law depart; and he went his way into his own land.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father In Heaven,

Holy and Sanctified is Your Most Wonderful Name!

You Alone Are Worthy,

You Alone Are LORD,

You Alone Are The Most High!

You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham,

You Are The Ancient Of Days,

LORD of Hosts,

and Rock of All Ages,

Our Creator,

You Have Made Us,

and All That Is.

You Are The Same Yesterday,

Today, and Forever.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

We've looked at this Passage in Exodus many times over the sixteen years of this Thread. Every time I read it, I'm reminded of the way I used to try to micromanage everything. While I may have been a First-Born, I certainly wasn't raised to be an Autocrat. Moses, on the other hand, was. It was very possible, due to the convoluted family relationships in the royalty of Ancient Egypt (Much, much later in History, Cleopatra was so inbred she could have been her own grandmother!), that Moses could have been in line to become the Pharaoh. The Movies "The Ten Commandments" and "The Prince of Egypt" implied as much. Whatever Moses' status in the Royal Family had been, he had certainly been schooled in all the myths, sciences, religion, magic, and mysticism of Ancient Egypt. The job of Pharaoh required it.

After all, Pharaoh was responsible for the Annual Flooding of the Nile, the safe Passage of the Solar Barque through the Night Sky, the Protection of the people from malevolent demons, the coming of Spring, and the appeasement of all the other gods and goddesses in the pantheon. It was a tough job, but somebody had to do it.

The danger that afflicts people with this type of Personality is that there is a tendency to assume that "I'm the ONLY one who can do it right. Everybody else is going to mess it up...and then I'm going to have redo everything myself!" Whether Moses acquired this personality Trait as a Prince of Egypt, or as a man who got chosen by God to Lead, we'll never know. The following story goes well with Today's Bible Passage. It's about learning to Delegate:

Every year, the dilemma arose as to where the Recital was to be held. Schools and Libraries were now charging hefty fees to use their facilities, and demanded liability insurance, a police detail, and extra money to pay a clean-up crew. Invitations had to be designed, printed, and sent out, programs had to be designed and printed (it didn't help that the students kept changing their minds about what pieces they wanted to play), two dates had to be chosen that were NOT Easter, Passover, or Mothers Day, photos taken for the program, food and beverages coordinated, and the students had to be prepared for "The Big Day".Since I wanted everything done MY WAY, I tried to do it all myself

Finally, one of my student's Mom's put her foot down.

"ML, you CAN'T do this all yourself! I will get the venue, bring the drinks and the Coffee Urn, and coordinate the other parents so we all won't bring the same dish. YOU just focus on the actual RECITAL."

So then, all I had to do was the invitations, certificates, and programs, the Music Equipment, the actual Recital, and training the kids. It went great and became a pattern thereafter.

I learned a valuable lesson with the recitals. Moses had to learn the same lesson in leading the Israelites to the Promised Land. God puts people in our lives who can lift some of our burdens. They may do things differently than we would sometimes, but that is OK. It takes a bit of "letting go" of a prideful attitude to give up some of the control to others, but so be it. We all have to let go of that from time to time.

We Type-A Personalities could all use a "Jethro" from Time to Time!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Amen to your prayer. I can see why you have a herding dog, great minds think alike. Unfortunately the Jethro I got came from the hills of Tennessee.

Amen. Praying that people of integrity, wisdom, strength and favor would be raised up to lead in all areas in Israel.

Moses disproved the adage, “Culture eats strategy for breakfast”. Raised to rule and reign in a godless society, he overcame his training to serve the living God! This is great hope for Christian parents.

Psalm 91

1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.

14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
