The Divine Mercy plenary indulgence is probably the most powerful grace you can receive all year.
The feast of the Divine Mercy is the first Sunday following Easter Sunday.
In Saint Faustina’s diary, Jesus explains how to obtain the unique graces on Divine Mercy Sunday:
“The soul that will go to confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day, all the Divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though his sins be as scarlet….Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the fount of My Mercy.” (Diary, 699)
What makes the Divine Mercy Sunday Plenary Indulgence so unique? To obtain a plenary indulgence throughout the year, the individual must be detached from all sin, which is very difficult.
However, Jesus does not require complete detachment from sin with the special graces he offers on Divine Mercy. This is the only time complete detachment from sin is not required.
How to obtain complete remission of all sin on Divine Mercy Sunday
1) Go to Confession before or on Divine Mercy weekend
2) Receive Holy Communion Divine Mercy weekend

The big part of this indulgence is Jesus does not require complete detachment from sin with the special graces he offers on Divine Mercy. This is the only time complete detachment from sin is not required.
Please, take advantage of this tremendous grace.
What is the biblical reference for this indulgence?

There isn’t a Bible verse quoted in the article.
Thank you for posting. I wish everyone would take advantage of this powerful act of mercy in their lives!!
Fr. Chris Alar from the Divine Mercy Shrine has a very good great explanation here too.

Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
John 20:21-23
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” 22 When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
That has absolutely nothing to do with this kind of indulgence.
So, you missed the part where Confession is essential to the Indulgence?

Here’s a Bible verse or two for you Ephesians 2:8,8 : For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Yet you’re trying to figure out if you have enough fingers to count all the works you need to pile up before you qualify.
Here’s another verse for you: John 19:30 :
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, IT IS FINISHED: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
