🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(4/3/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities
Exodus 9:18-21 18 Behold, to morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now.
19 Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.
20 He that feared the word of the Lord among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses:
21 And he that regarded not the word of the Lord left his servants and his cattle in the field.
The King James Version

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Excellent is Your Holy Name!
You Are The Almighty,
The Rock of Ages,
The Ancient of Days,
The Great I AM,
The King of the Universe,
The Creator, Sustainer, and Destroyer of Worlds!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

This started out as a look at the Personality of Moses, but, as we continue reading, we see a lot of Pharaoh's Personality as well. While the Bible doesn't say so, all the commentaries and movie suggest that these two men grew up together in the Royal House. Both men could be arrogant, imperious, and wily, and they both had a temper. Both are as stubborn as can be, and can be a bit duplicitous in their negotiations. Moses starts out with a perfectly reasonable request: Permission to go out into the Desert to Worship. (NOT the Ultimate Goal, Freedom from Slavery). Pharaoh bends a little on this, and then Moses ups the ante. Back and forth they go, and the end result is an absolute "NO!". The common people are the ones who suffer. The plagues get worse and worse, and Pharaoh's heart is hardened even more. He doesn't seem to care about the People who see him as a "god".
Egypt has nearly no rain, and all their water comes from the Nile. A satellite photo of the country shows the narrow strip of green that blossoms into a lotus-shaped delta as the River flows to the Mediterranean. A thunderstorm was a very rare occurrence, and a hailstorm even rarer.
The Exodus hailstorm was obviously supernatural because it didn't fall on the land of Goshen where the Hebrews were living. It just fell on Egypt. The Sky-Goddess "Nut" was totally helpless to prevent this destructive, discriminating, storm.
The timing couldn't have been worse, as two important crops were in bloom at the time. Barley was a food crop, and flax was a cash crop. Flax was also important to the religion, because it was made into fine linen, the garment of the priests of Isis and Seth. Those two gods were supposed to have protected the crop that supplied the vestments for their own worship services, but they, too, were helpless.
Verse 20 gives us a little ray of hope:
20 Those officials of Pharaoh who feared the word of the Lord hurried to bring their slaves and their livestock inside. 21 But those who ignored the word of the Lord left their slaves and livestock in the field. (Exodus 9:20-21 NIV)
So it would seem that a few of Pharaoh's Officials were getting the Message. This shows us that, in every generation and every situation, God reaches out even to people who don't know Him so they can believe in Him in opposition to the prevailing culture.
Some things never change.

Psalm 91
1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.
14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.

The “horns” are the result of a mis-translation of the story when Moses came down from the mountain after seeing God.
The correct word was RAYS of light, but got translated as “horns”. It persisted in Art all through the Renaissance and is a goofy artifact of a bad translation.

Amen. Sure took the officials of Pharoah a while. Gotta wonder what the Egyptians were thinking of ‘those in authority’.

They probably were wondering if Pharaoh really wasn’t really a “god” after all?
