The star of a popular show about King David is opening up about his personal conversion and the decision that led him to come into full communion with the Catholic Church ahead of the second season’s global premiere.
“When I was younger, I went to the Coptic Orthodox Church — and I love the Coptic Orthodox Church,” said the 24-year-old actor, who moved from Egypt to the United States as a boy. “But I found myself for a while, especially here in the States, I just didn’t go to church at all.”
Iskander said that his faith journey and his role as David grew both separately and together. As he began playing David, he faced unexpected trials that made him realize the importance of growing in faith...
He recalled a piece of advice he received during his training for the first season of “House of David.” At the time, Iskander was trying to spend a lot of time with a flock of sheep, but they would always run away from him. The shepherd told him how to change that.
“He goes, ‘Come stand next to me,'” Iskander said. “And when I stand next to the shepherd, the sheep don’t run away. But the moment I leave his side, the sheep go crazy.”
The shepherd encouraged him: “You need to be by my side always — and you need to spend as much time with me as possible so that the sheep know that you’re with me.”
Iskander knew God wanted the same from him.

Glad he’s home.
He’s really the best David I’ve seen yet, and the whole show is as good as he is.
From what I read of him, this is his first acting experience.
I was born into the Catholic faith and I admit somewhat ashamedly that I’m now at best a latent Catholic, at worst an agnostic. But I always find it fascinating when I learn that people actually convert to the faith... Graham Greene for instance. His novels are awesome reads and I didn’t read them because he was Catholic, but when I learned that he had converted... I was somewhat surprised.
I may be biased, but if you are going to join a faith the Catholic religion offers you the most serious religion, the original Christian faith established by St. Peter himself... There are some who would like to pervert the Catholic doctrine... Including the current and former Pope... But the traditions of the Catholic faith are likely the most attractive attributes that converts are attracted to.
I was born into the Catholic faith as well but over the years developed a real dislike being in the company of globalist, RINOs, progressives, and wondering who’s the pedo. Havent been back since Francis.
“I was born into the Catholic faith”
But then where did you get your usea about the Church and the KJV?
The Catholic Church does not forbid or formally ban reading the King James Version (KJV) for personal study, but it does discourage its use for liturgical or devotional purposes. Is that what you meant?
Btw, I understand why you left; it’s agonizing to see the ‘smoke of Satan’ enter the sanctuary through globalism and scandal.
But if we follow the logic of the ‘wilderness,’ we shouldn’t let a temporary hireling—even a high-ranking one—rob us of the actual inheritance Christ left for the remnant.
The Church isn’t the bureaucracy in Rome; it’s the Altar and the Sacraments that have stood as the only wall against the world for two millennia.
If you stay away because of ‘them,’ then the progressives have successfully stolen your seat at the Table.
Don’t let the failures of men drive you away from the only place where the Truth is objectively present regardless of who is in the pulpit.
The remnant doesn’t abandon the fortress just because the current guards are failing; we stay for the King.
Come back home
