Good Wednesday and the Sign of the Prophet Jonah (with Brief Video)

Dear friend, maybe you were raised to believe - as I was - that Jesus (our Lamb and Savior) was crucified on Good Friday. If one does the math... Friday can never work (see charts below). The "Sign of the Prophet Jonah" states it all; The ONLY sign that the Lord would give to the Messiah rejecting leadership of Israel and nation was the sign of the most rejected event and individual of the Bible, Jonah and the whale (Jonah 1:17).

The ONLY sign that the Lord would give to the Messiah rejecting leadership of Israel and nation was the sign of the most rejected event and individual of the Bible, Jonah and the whale.

"Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth Matt. 12:38-40)." (Matt. 16:4, 12:39, 11:29, Luke 11:30).

One MUST think like a Jew and not a gentile to understand the biblical settings that take place in the Bible. Too many gentile "Christians" see Jesus, the apostles, Israel, her promises and the Bible with a "western" perspective and when one seeks to do that, they err greatly on the many things even to the damnation of their soul (Rom. 11:24, 2 Peter 3:16). Almighty God used His chosen nation, people, Jewish believers, the lunar calendar, their culture, customs and heritage to bring forth the Holy Scriptures and the flavor of them. Jesus (a Jew - Matt. 1, Luke 3:23-38, John 1:10-14, Acts 2:22-33, Acts 7, Rom. 1:1-3, Rev. 22:16) presented the Gospel to the Jews first and when He taught them, He talked and taught them as "Jew to Jew" and used their customs, heritage and society to teach them the wondrous ETERNAL TRUTHS of Almighty God (Matt. 5-7, 13, 15:24, Mark 10:6, John 6, 10, Romans 1:16).

One MUST think like a Jew and not a gentile to understand the biblical settings that take place in the Bible.

Many to this day who profess to know the Lord Jesus and call themselves Christians, know Him not as set forth by the Holy Scriptures (Matt. 7:21-23, Rom. 10:2-4)? This Passover and Resurrection Sunday may you be sure that you TRULY know the very One who died for our sins and gave His life for us all that we may find forgiveness, pardon and live with Him FOREVERMORE in RIGHTEOUSNESS (Isa. 52:13-15, 53:1-12, John 3:16-17, Acts 4:12, Romans 4:25, Gal. 3:13, 1 Cor. 1:30, 15:1-4, 2 Cor. 5:21, 1 John 3:5, Rev. 1:5-7)!

Many to this day who profess to know the Lord Jesus and call themselves Christians know Him not as set forth by the Holy Scriptures.

The Lord Jesus ROSE VICTORIOUSLY from the grave for ALL, but truly, how many of the "ALL" will truly trust Him as their Lord and Savior as set forth by the Holy Scriptures?? Tragically, not many (Matt. 7:13-14, Rom. 10:2-4)!

May you be sure that you know the very One who died for your transgressions and rose for your justification!

The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!

there is no evidence of a “Wednesday Crucifixion” tradition ever being practiced or taught as a theological position.

No such doctrine exists in the writings of the Apostolic Fathers (1st/2nd century), the Apologists (2nd century), or the great Council records (4th century). Every single early source that mentions the day of the week identifies it as the “Preparation Day” (Paraskeue), which is the Greek word for Friday.

You say “The sign of Jonah (72 hours) is the only sign given; therefore, it must be literal.”

IN REALITY Ancient Jews used inclusive reckoning. In the Talmud (Tractate Shabbat 9:3) and the Bible (1 Samuel 30:12-13, Esther 4:16-5:1), “three days and three nights” was a common idiom for any part of three days. To a 1st-century reader, Friday afternoon to Sunday morning was “three days and three nights.”

Then you say “There were two Sabbaths that week (a High Day and a Weekly Sabbath).”

Whereas IN REALITY all four Gospels and every early Church writer describe the “Sabbath” following the death as the one day they rested, and the “First day of the week” (Sunday) as the day they found the tomb. There is no mention in any ancient manuscript of an “extra” day of waiting between two Sabbaths.

The article is not “factual” in the sense of being a historical record. It is a deductive argument.

Step A: Assume “3 days and 3 nights” means exactly 72 hours.

Step B: Observe that Friday-to-Sunday is not 72 hours.

Step C: Conclude that the history must be wrong and move the date back until the math fits.

One has to be just ignorant to believe this, not a fisherman, just ignorant

There is only one year that fits in the time of Jesus where the time from the Passover to First Fruits fulfills three days and three nights as it is written. Passover is tied to the date on the Calendar as the 14th of Nisan, so it can be on different days of the week, while the Feast of First Fruits is written in the Law as ‘the Day [[after]] the Sabbath [[after]] the Passover’ making it always a Sunday or first day of the week. Thereby setting the year as a witness to anyone looking to be 32 AD.

Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey on Sunday April 6th 32 AD. Jesus was crucified on Wednesday April 9th, 32 AD on the 14th of Nisan (Passover), he was in the tomb from sundown Wednesday to sundown on Saturday (or the 17th of Nisan) being Sunday April 13th - Feast of First Fruits. Three days and three nights in the Earth to fulfill the “Sign of Jonah”. Also this was the same day that Noah’s Ark came to rest on the Mountains of Ararat (before the 7th Month had been changed by God to the Fall). A new beginning.

Jesus ascended from the Mount of Olives 40 days later on Friday May 23rd, 32 AD. The First Fruits of those that slept.

The Church was born 10 days later on Monday, June 2nd 32 AD. (Pentecost)

Jesus told the women who were crying along the road as he was carrying his cross to Calvary, to ‘Weep for yourselves and for the children within you, if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry”

Then exactly 14,000 days later (after the 17th of Nisan) the Temple was destroyed on August 10-12th 70 AD. (9th of AV)
